The Cincinnati Enquirer WEST CHESTER TWP. - Mold concerns at the Cincinnati Marriott North Hotel at Union Centre have temporarily shut down two of its eight floors. Hotel officials are taking the walls out in the affected areas and are replacing them, according to West Chester Township administrator Dave Gully. " I don't think it's that big of a deal at all, " Bowles, the hotel's general manager, said Monday. The hotel has had moisture problems on the eighth floor, primarily as the result of a leaky roof, according to a statement Mr. Bowles released Monday. Decorative stone wrapping around the exterior of the building at the third-floor level also has leaks, the statement says. " The hotel has adopted a proactive approach and has assembled qualified experts to evaluate the issues and to adopt an action plan, " reads the statement. " Recognizing, however unlikely, health risks that exposure to mold has to both guests and associates, the hotel has limited operational activities on the third and eighth floors. " It is anticipated that these limitations will not remain in place for any significant period of time. All other floors in the hotel building, as well as the commercial building, are fully operational. " On Monday, a worker was outside on a large crane, trying to patch up the leaks in the roof. Mr. Gully said he is confident the hotel is taking care of the problem and said its steps set an example for others to follow. " They are fixing it right, " Mr. Gully said. " They are taking out the walls in the affected areas and replacing them, which is exactly the right thing to do. " The hotel opened in Union Centre off Muhlhauser Road in 2000 and is considered the cornerstone of development there. Mr. Bowles declined to elaborate on his statement.
