I give up....i am throwing this computer out the window...so, if you don't hear from me again...don't be alarmed.

Anyway it wasnt a pleasant procedure...but that doesn't mean that your husband will have a difficult time of it. ...

It is more difficult than a simple ICD replacement.....but you are preparing yourself and educating yourself. I am sure things will go well.

I am frustrated with this keyboard....so I am going to check for small children and animals on the yard before I throw this thing as far as my post-surgery site will allow!!!

take care and keep us posted!

Hi , Thanks for your reply. Where did you have your replacement

done? Was your surgery a long one? Did they just do it recently? If

you had to do it all over again are there any questions you can think

of to ask the doctor before him going into this? I'm sure when they

replace the lead they will also have to shock him to see if it is

working.....I just want to make sure we're going to someone who knows

what they are doing. Sometimes Doctors make me angry as they think

it's just a no big deal procedure when it's not them having it. I

will keep you posted. Please pass on any information you have.

Best Regards, Klista

Klista....I had my most recent replacement this past September. It was done here at the Iowa Heart Center by my regular electrophysiologist. This was the fourth time I have had my ICD replaced. Three years ago I had the unit and leads removed because the leads had calcified ...I assume to the artery.

This last time was just because the Icd had no power left, so the leads weren't changed. The procedure is more painful and healing time is longer when they replace both.

Your husband sounds as though he not only has the arrythmia problem both others as well. I am sure his team of Doctor's would not do the procedure if they thought it would endanger his life...it must be necessary for his well being.

I hope I answered all your questions...if not, don't hesitate to ask. I wish you both the best!

Love,
