Delaine,

Thanks for your response to my questions regarding insurance. It sure is a

scary proposition to consider losing coverage. RA is certainly not an

inexpensive disease to treat or get meds for. My thoughts and prayers are

with you.

The only problem is prednisone makes NASH worse. Therefore, that is why my

numbers never came down. I am finally receiving some real help. The doctor

in Boston prescribed Viox for the joint pain and I actually slept last night.

First time in a long time. I have been sleeping an average of 2 hours per

night for far too long and trying to work with no sleep. It sure hasn't been

easy.

I have had a lot of problems with my teeth. I too have to go for many

planing of my gums, and I have had many cavities and teeth pulled. I never

had a problem with my teeth prior to prednisone, not even one cavity!!

hello!

I'm just posting cos I know you guys will understand!

I said before that I have had a bit of time off work with PA (4 days in 3

months)

and after 3 times they have to refer to my doctor, to prove I'm genuine so

they can pay sick pay. They are only supposed to take it further if they are

not satisfied. Well, they have not spoken to my doctor yet, but someone from

occupational health phoned and grilled me today (example - " I'm having

trouble breathing at the moment because the pain is round the rib area " - she

replied " so why are you having trouble breathing? "

aaaargggghhhhh!)

And she is coming to see me at work on april 12th.

Why do people not understand that its hard enough without having to " take an

exam " to

prove you have it?

grrrrrrrrr!

Thanks for listening!!! : p RUTH

-Hello Ruth,

Good luck, let's see... you are having this pain NOW and the super-

intelligent 'all knowing' person will be coming to investigate your

PRESENT PAIN on April 12th... WOW, there is no end to stupidity... I

am an Occupational Therapist AND have the honor to be 'blessed' with

P and PA ... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that our pain

and symptoms vary from day to day... and surely from month to month.

I am in a strange mood today and on a roll... I have been far behind

on reading all the postings... but this one kind of makes me want to

come and help you out on April 12th... maybe I could 'whack and

crack' about 4 or 5 of her ribs with a hammer and let her carry on

with your interview, this way she will have a little more insight :o)

I wish you the best of luck... I think we all can sympathize.

I like your style #2! Maybe that's what we need - a little

more " activism. " :-)

I can't tell you how often I've wished I could shift my aches and

pains over to someone else, if only for a moment so they would know

what it's like. Hit them with it all at once instead of gradually

learning to live with it as we do, and they'd probably crumple over

in pain!

Thanks Ron,

You made my day... made me laugh and smile... I think the wonderful

combination of wisdom (I hope..:o) and PA have warped my sense of

humor... or sharpened it up a bit too much. I find that I don't put

up with things as I did in the past... when I hit 40 I took on this

new attitude... it is hard to explain. I am sure that all of us with

PA have developed it as well, we have put up with so much in our

everyday lives and then had all the problems of PA mixed in to make

it even more exciting... I think I've become too cynical... but I

like it :o) Good luck to all of you and have a wonderful Saint

's Day... & all the remaining 364 days in the year...:o)

Wow - that describes me to a tee! I like to think of it as " I no longer

take any crap " but I do feel that either PA or 40 (I was diagnosed at 38)

have made me not as sweet (or able to be walked all over) as I once was. I'm

trying to decide if this is a good or bad thing!

I am interested in finding out about the charter paid membership position for

toxic mold directors in the state of PA. Please give me an e-mail address to

contact.

Ah geesh, that's a long list. Lets see if I can do this without digging out my

box of bottles:

Milk thistle

Quality multivitamins without iron

Reishi mushroom

Shitake mushroom

Vitamin E

Malic acid with magnesium

Selenium

Alpha Lipoic Acid

B complex

Wheat grass

Potassium

MSM

Fish oil

Vitamin C

Wheat germ oil

Flax seed oil

Folic acid

Bone building formula with calcium and ostivone

Essential Enzymes

I think that's it but I'd have to pull out my vitamin box to double check. Some

I take only in the morning. Others like milk thistle and MSM I also take at

night. Each weekend I sit down with 14 empty pill bottles and fill them with my

two daily doses. That way I can just grab a bottle and start gulping instead of

opening bottle after bottle each day.

I'm drinking lots of water (and decaf green tea) and eat a moderate protein diet

with high grains. I make a point of getting as much rest/sleep as I can but

since I'm working that does eliminate daily naps during the week.

I meditate and am always visualizing little pac men running around in my blood

chomping down and the little viri. I drum on a handheld native american drum and

excercise balancing my chakras.

I go to the Oriental School of Medicine at least once a week for accupuncture.

Sometimes it is just a balancing treatment and sometimes I go for specific aches

or pains.

No brain fog that I'm aware of yet....that started at about the 3 month marker

when I did the rebetron so I imagine I'm closing in on that. No crankiness yet,

but that also seemed to start around the 3 month marker with rebetron.

I'm on Amitriptyline...last time I did prozac, but after years of prozac working

like a charm for me, it stopped working about a year ago during a really high

stress point in my life. I wasn't sleeping...would just hover between

wakefullness and sleep and that's when my doctor switched me to amitriptyline

per my request and Claudine's suggestion. When I started tx, we increased my

dosage to 100mg. I also take Klonpin nightly for my restless leg syndrom. But

I've noticed that it is much worse when on tx so had my doctor up the dosage on

that too. I just hate it when I can't sleep because my blasted legs keep wanting

to get up and move.

Think that's everything I do and take....

What alternatives (vits, herbs, supplements, other) are you taking with the

,

I use clear plastic ornaments (40mm or 60mm) that I got at s and Hobby

Lobby in the craft section. Just pack each side and put the halves together

and twist slightly. This works for me.

This is the same thing that I've always used. Works like a charm. I'd

probably have a mess on my hands if I were to try and use a meatballer, LOL
