Guest guest
http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/stories/2002/07/08/daily15.html Mold puts opening of Niagara University apartments on hold The discovery of mold within a new $11 million apartment complex at Niagara University will keep students out for the start of the fall semester. The six-unit complex is nearly completed and was scheduled to open in late August. Niagara University officials say, however, the discovery of mold in the crawlspaces of each building will mean nearly 200 students will have to be temporarily displaced. " We were very lucky, indeed, to discover this problem in its early stages, while it was still confined to the crawl space beneath the building, and before it affected the living areas, " said Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, C.M., Niagara's executive vice president. The university hired , a structural mycologist from Building Science Investigations Inc., to identify the mold and its causes and to propose solutions. The company began inspecting the facilities July 4. The fall semester at Niagara is to begin Aug. 27. A timetable for opening the new apartment complex has not been released.
