Guest guest
said not to discuss chiropractics...I agree... BUT...I would like advice from the oldies... How do you handle well meaning people and maybe some not...that have THE answer for scolioisis. I am often met with that situation as my daughter is 12 and has not had the surgery yet. We have a great relationship with her surgeon and are happy with our plan. But I am met often with people who want to give me their chiro's card and act like I am neglecting my child by not looking into electro stimulation , chiropractics..everyone seems to have a story about someone they knew that was " cured " by someone! We are happy having Sara attend to strengthening exercises, postural exercises but know she is not going to be cured, as some folks put it, we also listen diligently to her surgeon..it becomes stressful to have people tell me they know a cure..a fix etc..it also gets me angry and I know that does no one any good.. So what do you tell people that can't wait to give you advice! Best, Jessie __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Jessie... I have several friends like those you describe. In each case, I've asked that we not discuss alternative medicine issues, as there will obviously never be a meeting of the minds. I would be willing to move away from the friendship if those people insisted on trying to further their point of view after being asked not to do so. Also, if you wish to continue the debate with your well-meaning friends, there was a study showing that chiropractic had no positive effect on scoliosis curves in the July-August 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics. The article is titled " Effect of chiropractic intervention on small scoliotic curves in younger subjects: a time-series cohort design. Guest guest
ya the world is all like that as soon as you are a parent Everyone figures you dont know what you are doing with your kid and they do. I think its one of those things where people seem to just love to meddle and have the opportunity to do so. Just tell them she was miraculously cured by a blue fairy and you dont need their help anymore lol. Being a parent, I have to deal with that a lot, not really medical stuff but all kinds of things that I dont feel is anyones business and I see people doing things I know I wouldn't, but unless the child is being harmed in some way I wont interfere with others parenting. but this isn't a parenting list, however this one is single_with_kids It is a single parents group I just started. Hope its okay that I mention it here and now love sue " From the moment I picked up his book up until I laid it down I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it. It takes too long for other explainations of my medical history and why that treatment or doctor would not be appropriate. That way their feelings are not hurt and since it is usually someone that is concerned, I do appreciate their concern, GIna

Guest guest
People are always telling me about message " cures " and pranotherapists ( " wizards " who " cure " you through the electromagnetism of their hands) - you can't believe the stuff that goes on in this country. I think your only defense, is to state politely and firmly that you are very happy with your doctor and the plan you have made together and that you are convinced that to do anything else would be detrimental to your daughter's health. End of conversation. I agree with that a friendship isn't worth that sort of interference. Easier said than done, however - good luck. Guest guest
The govt/military have been using US citizens for guinea pigs for a very long time. Here's a reminder that also went mainstream. The problem is that people think they did that sort of thing then and that they would never do that now.
