Usual protocol before remediation

It is the usual to have pre-remediation sampling done by the insurer. When they fish around for other sources I think they may be looking for a defense to your mold claim. If there are several sources, some from covered damages and some from damages not covered, it becomes your responsibility to segregate the damages, which can sometimes be very difficult. You may want to have your own sampling done to verify that done by insurer to protect your interests.
