Hello Ben,

One question before I even consider buying any Zone books, tapes etc...:

Does the Zone diet take into consideration individual differences - different blood PH, different metabolic types, or other individual differences? What I've experienced over the years while I've been experimenting with different diets, 'programs' and herbs is that in order to get any positive results, the 'protocol' in question must be compatible with the 'body chemistry' of the person who's applying it.

The Zone

I have been searching for a diet that would maximize the body's ability to fight off disease and result in great health. I may have found it in The Zone by Barry Sears. The anecdotal and study info in the book indicates that its recommendations will have a significantly positive effect on cancer, AIDS and other serious diseases. The Zone is just one more tool, perhaps a very significant one in the fight against disease.

I have just finished reading Sears' first book, The Zone, a dietary road map to lose weight permanently, reset your genetic code, prevent disease, achieve maximum performance and enhance mental productivity. I am rarely impressed by books and rarely get much of value from them, 5% or less. This book is an exception, chock full of valuable and highly useful knowledge, both practical and theoretical. It is a must-read and probably a must-follow. It makes more sense than anything I've ever read and turns food into a real weapon against disease and for good health.

I have known for a few years now that the diets recommended by the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Assocition and the American Cancer Society promote the very diseases they propose to eliminate or cure. Sears, a man on a mission to save himself from death due to heart disease as was suffered by his father and his three uncles on his father's side, has presented a very easy to understand and easy to implement way to understand food and to use it to maximize our health and performance, both mental and physical. Significantly, his contentions are backed by Nobel prize winning research and quite a large amount to testing, much of which is anecdotal, some of which is more rigorous, even double blind.

So get the book. Also get the audio tape of his first and the two tapes of his second book, Mastering The Zone. You should be able to get them from your local library since the books were quite popular. I listened to the three tapes about three times apiece in order to get their info into my head. I have actually studied the first book and made copies of the food recommendations to post on our refrigerator. I have been on this diet for about 3 weeks and am starting to really feel its positive effects.

Regards, Ben
