CONGRESSIONAL PETITION REQUESTING FEDERAL FUNDING FOR VICTIM SERVICES FOR TOXIC MOLD VICTIMS THROUGH

THE NATIONAL TOXIC MOLD COALITION AND FOUNDATION

August 26, 2002

Herein, The National Toxic Mold Coalition and Foundation, P.O. Box 923, Ozark, Missouri, approach Congress with this request to allocate funding for victim services for Toxic Mold Victims.

1. Victims are being displaced and made homeless for long and short periods of time. They need help with relocation funds on a temporary basis until they can secure a new place to live.

2. Many victims have no known insurance coverage for property damage do to Mold and Toxic Mold exposures.

3. The National Toxic Mold Coalition receives hundreds of requests for aid by victims monthly.

4. The National Toxic Mold Coalition already houses a data bank containing victims and their needs.

5. There is no one else uniformly helping victims, while the flooding, and leaks have caused major mold problems throughout the U.S.

6. The insurance companies complain of not being able to pay the claims for Toxic Mold, often delaying payment until victims are homeless. Funding would help to alleviate this stress for both victims and the insurance carriers.

7. The National Toxic Mold Coalition has set up Directors in over 14 States to assess victim needs. They are receiving requests regularly.

8. Health issues arising from Toxic Mold exposure range from moderate to severe. Recently our disaster staff reported having to transport by plane a child victim whose kidneys were in failure.

9. The National Toxic Mold Coalition has secured volunteers Paramedics, physicians and rescue teams willing to work on a volunteer or sliding fee scale for victims, to help them relocate, consult with victims, and to address immediate health and living needs.

10. In reality the National Toxic Mold Coalition realizes this is a great

Undertaking but is important to the economy, by quickly addressing the problems, finding remedy, so that victims can return to work ethnic.

For the above reasons The National Toxic Mold Coalition and Foundation requests Congressional or other Federal Funding to be allocated to The National Toxic Mold Coalition and Foundation in order that we may begin helping victims. The goal is to open a environmental clinic on a small scale for victims treatment by qualified physicians, and relocation efforts for victims as well as

Basic necessities needed. We have already ensured disaster teams of qualified individuals and a medical advisory board. Please see attached definition of Toxic Molds. (attachment)

respectfully submitted,

Carroll-Bower,

Pres. NTMC
