Guest guest
When I was having physical therapy done on my lower lumbar back we were using the TENS unit as well. The first time I was on it was approximately 10 minutes then 15, and then 20 but it never went any higher than that because of the sensitivity and damage to my nerves in my back. I never did bother purchasing one although I was asked and it's highly doubtful if I will. What I did end up purchasing however was a CryoMax Ice Pack that is 12x12 and will work for up to eight hours. I don't use it often as I did but when needed, it's there. At the time, it was frequently enough to where I went through two, and I'm working on my second one now. Guest guest
I know someone here was looking for one earlier but I think she got hers. I would think you could sell it on Ebay as they sell all sorts of medical equipment on there. I would check it out and see if they sell successfully first. Also, if you have a PT that you visit or know ask them if they have anyone who might need one. Craigslist is another avenue they sell everything over there. Kim TENS unit I can no longer use my TENS unit so I was looking to sell it. Does anyone know where I can or anyone who may want one?
Guest guest
and others, May I ask if you can¹t use your TENS unit because you now have a spinal cord stimulator? Or is it for some other reason? I ask because I was told that it¹s okay to have both the SCS and TENS or other electric stimulation (at PT). Is this correct? Or am I mistaken? I need to ask because I¹m getting ready to have a special kind of acupuncture that involves electric stimulation with the placement of the needles for my new RSD (the SCS is for my back and legs, but the RSD is in the foot and ankle). Anyway, just curious if I need to have special settings of if the electric stim is okay to use. Or perhaps I just need to make sure the SCS is turned off during the procedure? I will double check with Medtronics to make for sure, but when I saw your post it made me wonder. Thanks, Kathy W.
Guest guest
I can't answer your question, but I can tell you I've had the acupuncture with the electrical stimulation and it feels wonderful!!!! I used to love it!! Guest guest
I'm not sure if it differs from state to state, but when I got my TENS unit 8 years ago, I had to have an Rx from my doctor. I had to submit it at the Medical supply store or they would not sell it to me. I got to pick the one I wanted, but I still had to have an RX. So if that is still the case, you probably couldn't sell it on eBay. But things could have changed, and it might be different in other states. Guest guest
I was able to buy mine directly from a massage supply place. I just looked and there are supply companies selling them on Ebay and all the supplies for them so it must be ok to do so now. I think a lot of the you have to have an RX thing is so that insurance covers the equipment from the medical suppliers and so they can raise the cost of them. There are lots of things that you can purchase out right without a prescription that you can get insurance to pay for if you have an RX. Hope that helps clear that up. Guest guest
Ooops i spoke too soon I just pulled up a sale and it says you have to have a form from a physician to get it from them. OK sorry for the mis information. I guess I was able to get one due to the fact I was a massage therapist and buying from a massage supply company. I would not want to get anyone in trouble. Sorry about that. Kim Re: TENS unit and others, May I ask if you can¹t use your TENS unit because you now have a spinal cord stimulator? Or is it for some other reason? Guest guest
I was told no because it could interfere with the stim. I guess it depends on where you're using it, idk? I've noticed that alot of your doctors have different ways than mine so I'd check with your docs. Guest guest
Hi, Kathy! When I read your post, I was worried about the fact that you are having needles placed.....I would be worried about the RSD spreading from them. I am certainly not trying to bust your bubble, as you sound excited for this type of treatment, just worried for you. Does your PM dr know that you are having this done? I have had RSD now for 26 years. I have had my RSD spread from an IV needle...and from getting BW drawn...so I was just worried when I read about the acupuncture. If this will help you and not spread your RSD...I wish you all the luck with it, Kathy! Gentle hugs to you and all, Kathy G. Group Co-Owner **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. Guest guest
Kathy, It¹s my PM doc who is doing the medical acupuncture‹so she knows all about me having RSD. I did consider the small risk of spreading RSD from using needles-but these are much smaller needles than the big ones used for nerve blocks, that are routinely recommended for RSD. Also, another alternative for me is scar adhesion revision surgery, and considering how big the adhesions have gotten (much bigger than incisions-one is as spread out as the dimensions of a credit card), this would be much more disruptive than trying medical acupuncture (and also a couple of scar injections with traumeel and lidocaine). So, I appreciate your warning, but weighing out all of the options, this is one I want to try. I am early enough into my RSD that this might not be the risk that it would be to someone further along in the process.¹¹ Kathy‹thanks for looking out for me! I appreciate it! Guest guest
It's an Epix XL TENS, I think the model # is 9110415. It's from the Empi co. so I'm sure if you go to their site you'll find it.It has everything to it, leads, patches, even 2 rechargable batteries and the wall battery charger. I had to buy mine which was like 8hundred sum, but selling it for $150. Let me know, Thanks and God bless. I can no longer use my TENS unit so I was looking to sell it. Guest guest
Hey Kathy.. You definately have done your homework and have checked into the best procedure for you to have done....Kudos to you!!! It is great when we the patients make it our first responsibility to look into what is best for us. I kind of know how you feel, Kathy. I have a very weighing decision to make as well. Do I go ahead with the BKA (below the knee amputation) or not due to the possibility of it spreading even worse...I sure don't want to jump from the pan right into the burning flames....but I can no longer take the pain. All my docs tell it is the right thing to do except for one doc. I am still thinking, praying and talking those who love me and have my best interest at heart. I wish you all the luck and really help that the accupuncture will help you, Kathy. Let me know when you are having the procedure done and I will keep you in my special thoughts and prayers that day. Guest guest
I am testing 4 different units for usability. I have found so far, the the best was the lowest cost. Next step is getting a all in one Probe/band to work with this unit. So far my goal is to get this to who ever would need one for under $100.00 maybe under $50.00. Hope to get a few available within a month. This needs to be affordable for anyone. M~R precss wrote: Hi, I was wondering if I could use a TENS unit to do the same thing? Guest guest
Will this work well for pain from Osteoarthritis, carpel tunnel, cervical stenosis, DDD, facetial hypertropy, and SI joint disfunctionl? I am only 44 years old and am on vidodin, and Soma compound w/ codeine, so I read not to use the 40hz. I put my pads on my wrists and ankles and changed it to 4 hz. I was relieved for awhile. I think I will try it every morning with my TENS. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Has there ever been a definate answer on whether a Tens Unit will work as a zapper. I searched the messages but didn't find anything definative. Thank you Darlene
Guest guest
A tens unit is NOT a zapper. Very different. TENS is used for localized pain control. That's it. It's a nerve signal blocker.
