Dear Sir,

I heard of you through a support group website for people sick fom toxic mold. I hear you are a little skeptical of the link.I am a 38 year old single mother who has worked at a government facility for 16 years. For eight of those year, I worked in a 100 year old flooding moldy basement. The last three years I moved to a new location right over this basemnt with holes in the floor for wiring and an open freight elevator and stairwell to this same basemnt. I started with recurring sinus infections, then I graduated to hives, then to burning crawling skin and then to asthma as I became so hypersensitive that I could smell it. I have never had asthma in my life. My life now consists of wearing a 3m mask all the time and basically living in my two safe rooms at home with a hepa filter air cleaner and air conditioner. I cannot go outside for any length of time as mold season and the smell overwhelms me. I sit next to plants and it is like havng instant pnemonia. I have tested positive fo 15 molds and fungals as well as got my hands on an environmental report done on this basement a year ago saying it was toxic...Aspergillus, Stachybotrus,Phoma...and many more. It was hiddn. Untill I got sick eight months later. Eight months earlier maybe I would have calmed down. Eight months later I have no life , wear a mask, live on inhaers, dont go anywhere. I am being sent to Mass General to a specialist. Please believe there is a link between mold and health. I am a good example. I just happen to work for the government and have to fight for workmans comp and that is like moving MOUNT RUSHMORE!! Thank you for taing the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Janet A. s 207 363 6004

Thanks for your support Janet. I think if we can convince this guy

Tom o that people are really suffering unnecessarily maybe he

might be able to put some pressure on the medical establishment and

make them a little self concious.

I posted on the bulletin board and got attacked by someone that

thinks everyone who gets sick from mold is out to get him. I could

use some support in there from anyone that has hard scientific facts

about mold.

You have to sign up to get into the bulletin board part of the web all

they want is your name and email it's easy to do. You can give them a

bogus name if you want and a hot mail account for email if you don't

want to use your isp address.

I sent the following in response --

There are many activist groups that can help when having problems

with bad construction or Toxic Mold. HADD and HOBB are two of the

best for home issues. HADD and NTMC (National Toxic Mold Coalition)

are two of the best for Toxic Mold issues.

My Wife and I are the Co-Presidents for HADD for Ma, Ct, RI, NH and

NY. We are also board members of NTMC. We have also helped people

from HOBB.

We have written State and Federal Legislation for Toxic Mold. Sadly,

the several states I have been asked to submit it in by HADD, HOBB

and NTMC members have decided it is more important to protect the

polluters, bad builders and corrupt government and private home

inspectors rather than we citizens.

One must remember that these politicians get the majority of their

campaign money from builders, realtors, inspectors and insurance

companies. We have submitted Toxic Mold and National building

standards legislation at the federal level as well.

It seems that Washington is also only interested in protecting their

big campaign contributors. A Toxic Mold bill by Congressman

Conyers is a budget buster. It establishes a national insurance

rather than holding bad builders, inspectors and insurance companies

liable. Seems it lets the insurance companies off the hook while the

taxpayers pick up the bill. It is estimated that it will cost 60

billion dollars just for the schools. I estimate it to be a trillion

dollar budget cost.

All of my state and federal legislation provides for accountability.

It holds those that created or allowed substandard or illegal

construction or toxic mold legally liable. It is called

accountability and justice. It makes those responsible pay the bills.

If it is a corrupt government inspector, their employers are also

liable. It denies government the defense of sovereign immunity when

they have knowingly allowed substandard and illegal construction.

Anybody interested in these bills let me know and I'll email them to

you. On September 11, 2001, the President had a letter sent to me

that said he had ordered the EPA to work with me. In a letter dated

September 10, 2002, he also told the HEW to become involved. The Vice-

President told HUD to work with us too.
