Guest guest
Sickbuilding has been a hot topic on Tom o's radio show. He helps mediate problems between people and contractors and any other type of service or merchandize business. He is very skeptical of mold mitigation but seems slightly open minded to sound arguments. I wrote the lengthily letter below to him and thought that everyone in this group should swamp him with there stories. Maybe the multitude of stories will make him realize there is more to than he thinks. I suggested to him that he ask the CDC some hard questions. I believe they are the main reason there is so much ignorance surrounding this issue. His web site is: http://troubleshooter.com/ I sent him a personal email but also posted the below text to his discussion board on home repair and construction. http://troubleshooter.com/discussion/ Christ My post: ======================================================================= Tom, I think the mold problem starts with good medical science of which there is a vacuum. I think the cdc needs be called personally by you and have some hard questions asked as to why people are getting sick. Because they are getting sick! Clearly we can put man on the moon the cdc and a panel of scientist can diagnose the sickness and figure out a way to solve the mold problem, and a protocol or standard that professionals should adhere to when mitigating homes. I would truly love to see you put the cdc in the hot seat on the radio! They are derelict in their duties! They are the worst scam artist's on Earth because they are robbing millions of there health by keeping us in the dark and sick! I might add that their are about 1,000,000 people that suffer from poorly understood diseases like sick building, chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivity, gws, agent orange, fibromyalgia, breast implant rejection, etc. The medical establishment's response is it's psychological which is totally irresponsible in my opinion because these are the same people that attack all the alternative medicine crowd for not backing up their claims/scams with verifiable science. Their are probably thousands that are getting sick from mold and being misdiagnosed with a non verifiable psychological waste basket diagnosis. This is a scam that should be stopped! I used to own a lawn business this is my sixth year of being completely disabled. At first I thought that it was pesticides that made me sick because of the profound neurological effects. After about three years I started to suspect mold. I actually moved out of my house in the beginning but the house I moved into was a project house I owned and it had mold too! I have come to believe that something happens to some individuals where their immune system is extremely sensitized to mold such as me with pesticides. So a healthy person with little exposures to it (like our grandparents) can walk into a sick house and not get sick. A unhealthy or sensitized person cannot. I believe that this problem is not new just never identified clearly. With the advent of talk radio and the internet it's hard for things like this to go unnoticed by the by the media and masses anymore. Just type Penicillium, or chronic fatigue into any search engine. They have been here all along just nobody hears about it unless they have the misfortune of experiencing it personally. I have removed all the insulation from my attic, fixed a roof leak, and still got sick in my home although removing the rotten wood helped a lot. I recently crawled under my home and found mold growing under the kitchen sick (bottom side of sub flooring) where I have had leaks a couple of times though the years. It was a blue green mold and it was not rampant. I sprayed it twice with a 8 to 1 ratio of bleach and it seemed to help markedly with my symptoms. Apparently the mold would come out the vents under the house and a tiny bit back into the windows and make me unbearably sick. I have been living outside of my house under a carport for 2 years and next door in my rental house before I sold it. Just walking over for ten minutes to use the bathroom here made me constantly sick or the house next door had mold too one or the other. Being under the carport with no entry into the house at all I still got sick because a tiny amount of spores came out from underneath my house and made me sick, although I felt much better outside it still pretty much incapacitated me. I finally figured out when I leave that I feel much better and overcame my denial that it was my home. That is when I discovered it under my house where my kitchen sink is. Tom mold is a terrible problem that destroyed the last 5 years of my life! There are exaggerations and hucksters, and there are real people suffering like me! My house is 50 years old and is not very well closed or sealed up, as a matter of fact I have fans in it that I move the air though the house with. I know it makes me sick for fact, if I move out for a few days I feel much better. I am going to sell this house too and move onto a fiberglass boat. I hope you take the same care to get to the bottom of this mold issue as you do with all the other issues you deal with! It would undoubtedly make all the monetary issues you resolved in the past pail in comparison. You could improve thousands of peoples lives by giving the cdc a good swift and hard kick in the ass they so sorely deserve!
