Guest guest
Dear Missy, You are not crazy- I have worked in a " sick building " since 1986. I developed severe asthma after being in the building for six months, had thirty percent lung function. I told all the doctors that were treating me at the time that the only thing that had changed in my life was that I was now in this building. None of them believed me then and none of them believe me now. I have had numerous sinus infections that develop into bronchitis and pneumonia also. I also have meniere's disease, which developed when I returned to the " rehabed " building after a maternity leave. That was after the birth of my second son. He was born with pneumonia and almost died. They never found the causative agent. Just recently we had a severe water leak at work and I related to the maintenance people that we had had a small leak for years in the same spot. We also figured out that our office was giving us the sinus infections. All four of the occupants had the same illness, including someone that had just moved in. We also figured out that we would have sinus infections after dusting the office. They tested for mold and found plenty. I didn't know that the building was causing these other problems. I am trying to go through workman's compensation- I was told that since I knew that the building has been affecting me for so long I probably do not have a case. I went to see a Dr. in Occupational Health - this Dr. wouldn't say that the building has been making me ill because I had very mild asthma as a child. I was never even hospitalized- I would take a Primatene tablet and be fine. Now I am on all kinds of meds.I told this Dr. that I was off all the meds when I was out on a maternity leave of fifteen months with my first son. Didn't make any kind of impression. The Dr. would only say that the mold is exacerbating my previous condition. I really don't know how this will end- I love my job and like most people I need it as well to survive. I am sending in my ten dollars- I wish that I could attend the meeting in Branson but it's just not feasible right now. I am in tears when I read the postings of everyone suffering from this problem- it amazes me that people can be sent to jail on circumstantial evidence but no one believes the circumstantial evidence that points to these buildings with their bad air, mold etc. as causing health problems. I'm sorry that this is so long - I had to vent a little. I hope that you find a solution to your problems.(and that we will all recover from these maladies!) -- In @y..., " lizwolcott " <Benzbelle@a...> wrote: > Dear Missy, > Know that you are not alone...my family has been exposed to high > levels of toxic mold and we have ALL battled depression.
