Just came back from Endo. Test is 378 and gave me Clomid

My Endo says my T was 378 and says it is up but not enough. This is

as high as it has been in two years. Not sure why it is this high.

It is usually around 160's He started me on 25 mg of Clomid every

other day. Does anyone know if this will be enough to get the boys

pumping? Thanks for all the help and the info regarding my apnea

etc....

I have been on 15 mg of clomid taken on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays since

April of this year. I have seen my total T go from the low 300 range to 988 on

my last blood 2 weeks ago. So yes, in theory, what you are taking might be

enough if you are truly secondary hypogonadic.

I've been on Clomid for about 4 months now.

25mg/ eod gives me T around 960 (200 w/o meds).

So, his dosage seems resonaable to me.

To R D HANCHETTE, how to you measure 15mg?

It is a problem for me to since my Clomid is in 50mg pills.

Very easy, I don't measure out 15mg. The pills were prescribed in that dosage

amount because my Doctor estimated that would be all that would be required to

put my Total T level up into the 900 range.

15 mg Clomid pilss ? In the U.S. ? I never heard of that. Probably

easier (and cheaper) to cut the 50mg pills in 1/4's

Jack,

How long did it take before you noticed a change? I am

excited about your numbers. It would be so nice to feel normal

again. Do you have all of the T supplemental effects such as

energy, increased libdo, lean body mass etc... ? Have you noticed

any wierd side effects? Thanks...

I heard you could get specific dosages at a compounding pharmacy, but

you would need your doctor to specifically prescribe it.

That's alot of work to get 15mg when you can get ~ 12 mg by cutting

the pill in 1/4's. I didn't know Compounding pharmacies made pills to

order I thought it was just creams and injections. I would think it

would have to cost alot more as you can get generic Cloimd for about

$2.50 a pill for 50 mg

I read that Clomid can cause problems with your optic nerve.

Apparently, women using the drug have experienced mini blood clots

that interferred with the flow of fluids (blood) to the nerve. Has

anyone experienced problems like that when taking Clomid?

I too am excited. However, I thought I read that Clomid is a

synthetic estrogen. Has that caused anyone problems?

I also read a bodybuilding article indicating that taking both

Clomid and Novladex is a little better than just Clomid. What does

you doctor say?

That is exactly how I obtained these pills. My Doctor requested this dosage

from a compounding pharmacy (in the U.S. and they are not all that expensive).

So your pills are 'custom made' ? Where do you get them from?

BTW, isn't 900 range a bit to high?

Now comes the bad news. I have not noticed any positive changes in the areas

most needed. My libido is nonexistent and I still experience a lot of fatigue

and depression. In theory having your own body produce good amounts of

testosterone instead of deriving it from external sources should be a good

thing. However, I have heard others on this board suggest that Clomid can make

your lab reports look great without delivering on the performance front. Still,

in my case there might be other factors at work. When I discussed my last lab

reports with my Doctor, the one area that jumped out as a potential problem was

my low DHEA level coupled with a high Cortisol level. He maintains that I will

not experience the benefits of the high testosterone level until I get the

cortisol level down. He is attributing the cortisol level to depression and

recommending that I go on depression meds, which I don't want to do. We both

agree that I am probably suffering from Adrenal Fatigue, which is another area

like hypogonadism that a lot of Doctors are in denial about and really don't

know how to treat. So once again, it is just easier to advise the patient to

start eating depression medication. I would appreciate any advice that this

knowledgeable group can offer. Thanks.

My experience with Clomid is a bit different.

When I was taking 25mg/eod and had T/E2 960/29, during the first

month I felt exactly as you are describing - no libido, spells of

fatigue and general not well being. Then I dropped my dose to

12.5mg/eod (T/E2 566/25) and after about 3 weeks felt much better -

libido was up, no fatigue attacks.

But I have to say that in no way I feel as good as I used to

before the whole ordeal.

I get them from a compounding pharmacy called The Medicine Shoppe and their

phone number is (610) 378-1396. I'll leave it to the more knowledgeable people

on this board to debate the issue as to whether the 900 range is too high or

not. I simply don't know. My Doctor has not expressed that concern when we

have gone over the lab reports together.

I do not know any alternative. As far as I know Clomid is as close to

natural production of T as you can get with meds and I have no issue

with high E2. I've read about Nolvadex being better than Clomid but

have not tried it.

Did you have your DHEA and Cortisol levels checked before you took

Clomid ? Clomid screws around with a few of my tests but they came

back to normal after I stopped the drug

Yes, I discovered this problem with the DHEA before I started the clomid. The

Doctor that has me on the clomid also has prescribed a topical DHEA cream to

address the DHEA deficiency. It has not worked. In fact my DHEA has actually

gone down since using the cream and also taking 50 mg of DHEA orally. So go

figure. If anyone has any ideas in this whole area of DHEA deficiency as it

relates to adrenal fatigue I would love to hear them. Thanks.

Get your thyroid levels checked also...NOT just TSH, but Free T3 and Free

T4, don't get T3-uptake, it's been replaced by Free T3, but labs still want

to do it for some reason.
