Guest guest
I tried the patches and they were horrible. I never got to a therapeutic dose level. They were extremely incovenient (they are HUGE)and irritated the crap out of my skin. I like the gel much better. Guest guest
The Androderm patch worked very well for me chris67672000. I have andropause and have been using the patch for over 2 years. I like the patch and was able to achieve the correct testosterone level. There is some irritation at the application site, but that can usually be remedied by making sure the application site is clean. The patch works fine on any area of the skin that doesn't have hair. Shave the area if the skin site you have choosen has body hair. I swap the skin with alcohol just before applying the patch. Remove yesterday's patch and clean the area with the same alcohol swap. After removing the patch you have to clean the skin with alcohol to remove the adhesive residue. Decide where you are going to apply the patch, swap it with alcohol, let it dry, and put the patch on. I have shaved my scrotum and applied the patch there many times. I have also shaved the hair at the base of my penis and applied the patch around the penis shaft. I have applied patches to my leg, my ankle, my stomach, back, chest, and arms. Have fun and be creative in your choice of application sites. Guest guest
So, if AndroGel was working " pretty good " , then why switch? From what I have read, they both work about the same (essentially continuous dosage over 24 hours, etc.), but the patches have a lot more application site issues than the AG has (irritation, having to shave the areas, falling off when sweating or swimming, etc.)... Just curious.../Dale > Hi Everyone, > > I have been taking Androgel which seems to work pretty good, I was thinking > about trying the Androderm patches and wanted to know what people who > have used the patches think of them? > > Thanks, > Chris

So that's why I thought I would give the patches a try. Chris
Guest guest
I've used androderm patches. They are a tremendous pain. They irritate the site with chemical burns plus they fall off when you sweat just a little. Androgel is much easier to control. The delivery curve is max at 1hr. which mimics the body delivery. Not perfect but the best we have. Androderm patches take 4-6 hrs to reach max blood levels. So if you put it on in the am it's noon before it kicks in. As I remember it reccomends evening application. In the middle of the night you can get a heck of a buzz. I'm using a compounded cream it works fine and cost about half of Androgel. Best of luck. Guest guest
Mac, I've created a folder for compounding pharmacies in our files section, and put Gulf South Pharmacy as a file. I learned about Gulf South at Alt. Support Impotence NG...a few men there use them for compounding Trimix. When I was worked up for Trimix, Gulf South was my first choice and I asked uro's PA to call my Rx into them...cost for 7.5 ml including overnight, cooled shipment was $52.50. There was miscommunication and I ended up using Scurlock Pharmacy in Scurlock Tower, Texas Medical Ctr. - Houston. Cost, including FedEX was $96.50. Consider putting information about compounding pharmacy you use as a file in that folder. My 10 G/dy AndroGel is covered by insurance now but next May, I go on Medicare and loose this ins. I may do a combo of compounded T gel and Depo (Pharmacia Upjohn) a 10 ml vial costs me ~$80 and injecting 100 mg/Depo/wk (0.5 cc) gives me very high T levels...too high. Changed to injecting 100 mg/wk Depo-Testosterone Blood collected 8th day after last injection of 100 mg Depo-Testosterone on... Guest guest
I have been on 5 mg patches for about 3 weeks. When I remove the patch, within about 6 hours I get a red spot there which itches and burns. Takes about 48 hours to disappear. I rotate the patch daily. have had the same reaction when I use arm, leg, or belly. Reaction not apparent until the patch is removed. Has anyone else had this reaction? Is it a cause to discontinue the patch and try gel? I took a day without the patch. Any idea what will happen? I will probably put one on tomorrow. Levels are very low, and still can not achieve penetration with 50 mg Viagara. Thanks for the input.
Guest guest
Since you are getting a site reaction and your levels are still low, I would change to another replacement method such as the gel.
