, Oh my God!! I also get those "blisters" under my eyebrows, on my eyelids, and just under my lower lashes. I have had them ever since my implants, and I always thought they were some sort of weird zit. But they would never "pop" (I know that sounds gross, but these suckers were pretty large and looked like whiteheads). And then they would just go away on their own. So I never pursued finding anything more about them since they didn't seem to be doing any harm. But I wonder if the implants were causing them??????? The Frequency 55 contacts that I have are soft contacts, as I can't tolerate hard contacts either. And I'm not a candidate for laser surgery as my corneas are too steep (not that I would do it anyway since there seems to be so many people developing problems down the road). I'm not sure if the contacts are daily wear or extended wear. I always get confused about these 2 things. I'm not supposed to change them out everyday, but instead I wear one pair for about 2 months as long as they're not cracked or ripped, etc. I take them out at night and put them back in in the AM. Sometimes I wear the same pair for 3 months if they're in good condition. Just depends. My opthamologist switched me to them about 1 yr ago because they have a higher water content which helps my dry eyes (although sometimes I can't tell the difference). They are also lightly tinted blue so you can't lose them, but they don't show up blue when you put them in. The ones I was on before these were Focus, and I liked those as well, and they did not contain silicone either. They just didn't have the water content I needed for my dry eyes. My doc said that I have some of the driest eyes he's ever seen! He specializes in treating women with lupus, Sjogrens, and other autoimmune diseases. I told him that implants caused my health problems, and he believed me. He said that he'd had other women come in with implants who were so ill, and some of them were putting two and two together, others weren't and didn't want to. He was a great guy. Now that I say that, I think I will just keep all my docs in Denver. I will just fly up to Denver whenever I need to see a doc. Or at least try to group them together. My next eye doc appt is in Jan, so maybe I'll schedule an appt to see him, my neurosurgeon, my rheumy and Dr. Huang all at once. The docs in Tucson suck!!! I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them! Anyway, hope the aboe info helps. e ----- Original Message ----- From: shihtzusrock@... Sent: Sunday, July 14, 2002 5:53 AM Subject: e-contacts eThanks for letting me know about that brand of contacts. I will checkwith my eye doctr next visit. I know not all doctors carry all brands. Are the ones you mentioned "Frequency " daily wear or extended wear? Andare they SOFT? I tried hard lenses back in 1975 and always "felt" themin my eyes. I currently wear CIBA-SOFT STANDARD; I wear the green so Ican find them when they drop..LOL That's how blind I am! I joke & say Ionly wear my glasses in the morning to FIND my contact case!My eye doctor spoke of some brand new extended wear contacts that youwear for 7 or 14 days. He said he rec taking them out every nite & rewetting, then puttting them back in. He also said he never liked ANTextended wear until these came along. BUT they are made mostly ofsilicone. So of course he wouldn't give those to me.I also suffer time to time with dry eyes; it's getting better. Also I getthese weird little "blister" on the part of my eye right under mylashes; The part closest to the eye. He documented them for me.

The fact that many don't list their implant surgery with

physicians does not come as a great surprise. When

I was attending a large support group in Orange County,

CA back in the early 90s, I was astounded at the

number of women who reported that they had never

told husbands/families about their implants--and were now

faced with having to do so. I know a gal who had her

implants put in through the axilla, not just to avoid a

scar under the breast, but so that no one would know

she had implants--and wouldn't you know, her scars

keloided. Drs didn't have a solution for this problem

then.

Equally astounding were the number with problems who

came to Houston Med Center for a dx so that no one in their hometowns would find out about their implants!

Well, unless the physician records her symptoms (and I

know many of mine did not) I'm not sure it really matters

whether she lists the implant surgery. What matters is

that the woman knows, and I'm finding that although this

issue has taken over our lives, many people do not even

know that there is an issue with implants---there is vitually no auditory publicity and what little there is

visually is missed because most people just don't read. (and physicians are just people, too)

The contacts you described are classified as Daily wear Disposables.

That means you can wear the same pair for a few week (or months like my

friends do, depending on how good of shape their in). The Extended Wear

(as I understand it) are made to be SLEPT in, but also are disposables,

My eye DR tod me he doesn't reccommend sleeping in ANY contacts. He has

seen too many eye infections from these extended wear contacts. Up until

a couple years ago when this new brand came out (forgot the name). He

said THESE contacts are designed to be worn as folows: Take them out

each nght before bed, Rewet them & put them back in our eyes, Then go to

sleep. That sounded like a hassle to me. He said he didn't approve of

ANY contacts that people should wear without taking them out at least

once a day to rewet. Dry eyes or No dry Eyes problems.

When he talked to me, very openly about the silicone BI issue, he said

that the reason he didn't " think " he had very many women who had BI were

that MOST women would not list it on their patient forms. Make sense to

me. My ob/gyn told me the same thing.

She had a patient, who after her breast exam asked her how long she had

her BI (she noticed patient didn't list the surgery on the form). The

patient kept denying she had BI. Then when the doctor gave her the BI

speech the girl told her the reason she didn't list it because she

didn't really think that is was considered a real surgery AND she didn't

want anyone to ever know.

So this all brings me back to: How can ANY doctor do an accurate Dx of

women who don't even list this surgery on their forms?

I have always listed my BI surgery on every Patient Info Form. And the

ironic thing is, when I had my rupture last year, the idiots didn't even

consider my ruptured-BI as being the cause of my pain. When I approached

my GP about this he said " Honest to God ; I never thought BI

ruptures could cause this kind of pain. It goes against everything that

I've read about this issue. " He acted somewhat interested for a few

months; then suddenly changed his tune & ignored me. I now see a new GP;

Listed all my sugeries, but didn't " talk " about silicone. I know it's on

my forms, he saw it and when these doctors FINALLY someday will really

read the reports, I'll at least have been honest with my doctor.

I have stopped putting BI surgery down on my PMH. I usually have to have

procedures/surgery done where I work, and I don't want my coworkers or

anyone else finding out that info. I do, however, have some scars from

breast reduction surgery, but again, I don't list that surgery either,

unless someone asks me about the scars. My docs know what surgeries I've

had, and I've asked them all to not list BI/breast reduction in their H & P's.

And all feel that that is a reasonable request to protect my

confidentiality. Thank God I have a wonderful group of docs who really care

and are trying to find out more about the whole BI issue!!

-Marie, I can't remember what the eye doc said they were, but he was only guessing and wasn't positive what they were either. He told me to just leave them alone and let them "heal" themselves. And they do go away, although they do look like some serious whiteheads! Sometimes I have only 1-2 around my eyes, other times I have none, and then other times I have 4-6. And even when I tried "popping" them, they would not pop!! I used a sterile needle to try this, and put the needle right through the center of it, and nothing came out. It was bizarre!! e ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Hi Marie,

If it's a clear non-inflamed blister that doesn't even itch or burn --- then it's the same kind I get when I have Lupus Flares. Unfortunately, mine have always left a slight brown mark.....looking somewhat like liver spots. I have recently had some succes getting rid of some, and lightening several others with a dermabrasion treatment you can do at home!

These " blster " I get are located on the part of the eye as follows: On

lower lashes, they are above them closest to the eye & on the upper

lashes they are BELOW the lashes closest to the eye part.

They are totally clear, just like a blister would look like.

I got a couple of those " whitehead ones " but ot in the area I described

above. I got the whitehead thing on the side of the bridge of my nose &

in the dark circle area. One night I steamed on real good & what come

out didn't look exactly like hardened sebum. This was so hard I could

not crush it with my fingers.

I have read somewhere where silicone detoxes thru the sebacceous glands

/ oil pores on the face. I only had 2 of those whitehead type things.Doc

said it was " Milia. "

Eye doctor said, about the blisters, he sees them from time to time on

people, but doesn't know what they are or what causes them. But I do

have them almost daily wearing my contacts or not.

,

Interesting, I get these things in the exact same places as you do. But

mine definately look like whiteheads, but aren't filled with anything (I

know--gross!). They've been less frequent in the last yr (could it be

related to having had my implants removed in the last yr???). It wouldn't

surprise me if they were related to the implants, as I never got them prior

to having the implants.

How are you feeling? Okay I hope.
