I was told that I had sent someone a virus, so I logged onto symmantec.com and scanned all of my files. There was no virus found, but I did see that there are several viruses that are similar to what Ilena is describing---you send someone an email, and they find out that you have "sent them a virus" when in fact, you have not. Someone who emailed me apparently had the virus, it attached itself to the "from" portion of my email, and showed up as me having the virus. But the way these viruses work is even though it looks like you've sent someone a virus, you don't really have one. That is how the virus works. But symmantec scanned all of my files and nothing showed up. Symmantec also said that my computer hard drive was not vulnerable at this time. However, just to be on the safe side, I have symmantec scan all of my files when I log on. So far, I remain virus free. e ----- Original Message ----- From: ~*Patty*~ Sent: Friday, May 17, 2002 5:54 PM Subject: Fw: Viruses in our Support System This is a repost from Ilena--everyone should be reminded to update youranti-virus program, and if you dont' have one, to get one, or use this freeweb-based virus detection program. I know I have experienced a virus from amember of this group, and others have as well. It comes with the territory,so learn to protect yourself, and be aware. Watch what comes through youremail program carefully.Patty----- Original Message -----From: "ilena rose" <ilena@...><Recipient List Suppressed:>Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 9:52 PMSubject: Viruses in our Support System> KKJ has provided a great site below for PC virus detection.
