I'D NEVER HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY..I JUST DON'T TRUST IT Date: 06-30-2002; Publication: Sunday Mail; Author: LYNN McPHERSON EXCLUSIVE THE partner of a plastic surgeon branded "incompetent" after operating on football star Colin Hendry's wife refuses to go under the knife herself. Charlotte Aniansson, 38, is against plastic surgery and has vowed never to have it - even if husband Gustaf was performing the operation. Hendry, 35, spent five weeks in a coma after what should have been a routine tummy tuck operation by Dr Aniansson at a private clinic. NHS doctors who saved mum-of-four claim the Swedish-born medic left holes in her intestines and sent a letter of complaint to the General Medical Council. Speaking before her husband operated on , Charlotte said: "My body isn't perfect - for example, I think my nose is slightly big and I know I could have it made smaller and prettier for free by a man I trust. But I'm still not tempted. "I would not put anything foreign into my body like implants. "My husband disagrees because he says medical research on implants has proved they ! are completely safe, but I still don't trust them." The mum of five, who lives with Gustaf and children Max, 11, Felix, 10, Malcolm, eight, Ebba, four, and Xavier, two, in a pounds 5000, 000 house in north London, has also vowed never to let her own daughter have cosmetic surgery. She said: "I'd never encourage Ebba to have it. I want to teach her to feel good about herself from the inside. If you had something really wrong with you that made you feel constantly unhappy, or you had a disfiguring accident, then plastic surgerycould help you. "But when women, especially young girls, have breast implants because they want to go up a cup size, I just don't understand it." Charlotte admitted she was often asked by other women if she had surgery. But she said: "I don't really believe in plastic surgery and I'd never have it myself, though I don't in any way condemn women who do have it. I believe it's a personal choice, though I prefer to preserve my looks naturally.! " was taken off the danger list earlier this month after being on a life-support machine. Former Scotland star Colin, 36, is considering legal action after the operation at the private Broughton Park Hospital, Preston. is slowly improving, but is believed to need further surgery. It will be some weeks before she can return home to Lytham St Anne' s, near Blackpool, to be with children Rheagan, 12, , 10, Callum, four, and two-year-old Nhaimh. Doctors from the plastic surgery department at the NHS Royal Preston Hospital, Lancashire, sent a letter to the General Medical Council expressing their "extreme concern" about Mr Aniansson. It said: "As a group of accredited plastic surgeons, we feel that the indications for such a procedure were at the least dubious and its performance reckless and incompetent." The letter's author, consultant surgeon Howcroft, wrote: "The patient in question had undergone what purported to be abdominal liposuction." He said co! lleagues in the general surgical unit had found several holes in her small bowel. They found another hole in her colon which they had to repair and she was put on a life-support machine. Mr Howcroft added: "We are concerned that similar treatment may continue to be carried out at that institution unless urgent action is taken." They also said the Hendry case was not "the first of significant complications" they had admitted from Broughton Park.
