Guest guest
Dear Lorri I am glad your here and that you had the timebombs out! Girl I always wondered if the smooth ones would have made me sick and then I hear from others like you and know that most likely yes they would have! ARG it makes me angry too that this had to happen, and yes it takes a big toll on everything in our lives doesn't it? I am glad you are talking and that we can vent here where others understand, I know I understand. Tell me more about your explant girl I am curious, who did it? It sounds like you got implanted around when I did, in April of 99, what a mistake, anyhow I have been implant free for 18 months now and can atest that while still having some health issues I am pretty much over the implant related stuff for the most part, although I admit I am not convinced I will ever be quite the same as I was before, I am better, and feel good most of the time, but it does seem that it has been a long hard road with many set backs. Tell me about your illness and your symptoms and how you are now, since it has not been too long I am sure you are still dealing with symptoms, trust me they get better and better and eventually most of this wil just seem like a distant nightmare. however I would love to know more and how I can help anyway possible ok? Hope to hear more from you soon and glad to have you on the site. Hugs ----- Original Message ----- From: marcslove37@... Sent: Saturday, June 22, 2002 11:26 AM Subject: I'm going off on a tare.... Hi Lani.Weird! No problems with this before? Did you have silicone gel implants? I had saline but the outer silicone shell was making me sick. I had all kinds of problems with numbness, tingling and weakness in my extremities and face. I wonder if the explantation stirred up some toxins that caused it or if a nerve was injured directly? Do you have any theories? Has your Dr. given you any info? I am very interested because I am hoping for a full recovery and if your problem is caused by the silicone and doesn't go away, that's scary! Anyway, on a different note, I have seen many posts saying that the silicone shell on the implants didn't make the patient sick, it was the gel. I wouldn't be so sure. I have had my saline implats since 1999 and just had them explanted on June 4th. I was very sick and there was a period of time, before I was medicated, when I couldn't work at all!! Mine were not textured and not double-lumen; just plain saline filled silicone timebombs!!!And on a final note, about: to be chatty or not to be chatty..., don't even get me started!!! You want chatty, I can give you chattey !!!! I love it!!! I have had my implants out but it doesn't end there. We are all still greiving and our families are greiving and we have lost years of our lives and our health and if we can't talk here, where can we talk? Right? I know, for me personally, I don't want to talk a lot about this to others who haven't been through it. I have even had someone tell me that it was my own fault that this happened to me. I have even heard this from my own family!!! Needless to say that family member is "out of the car"!!! This is about purchasing a product that was not safe for the purpose for which it was marketed!! I asked a lot of questions about safety and health issues related to saline implants before I made my decision, I was lied to!!!! My plastic surgeon looked my right in the eye and said, "There are no health problems associated with saline implants, it is only the silicone gel implants that have been called into question. The saline implants are safe because solid silicone is biologically inert." He used the example of other solid silicone prosthetic devices that are used in medicine and said that the reason that they are used is because solid silicone is biologically inert. What a sales pitch!!!!! I bought it!! I was thinking, "Well, he's a Doctor, he would know." I didn't know the chemical make-up of solid silicone. I didn't know that this product had not been tested for safely. I am assuming that a Dr. who has taken the Hippochratic Oath would never put something into my body that would hurt me (was I young and stupid or what?). He even said that he never did implant silicone gel breast implants and that he had been implanting the saline ones for 15 years and there had never been any reported health problems. Of course not! I haven't gone back to him 12 years later to say, "Hey bud, you sold me a bill-of-goods! I got sick from your saline implants." What good would that do anyway? Would he even return my calls? Probably not. I couldn't even find him when I did try!! He probably moved his practice. Anyway, now that I've gone off on my tare... I feel much better now. See, it really does help even if no one reads it.Thank you all for being there! You are all the bravest most beautiful group of women I have ever Emailed!!!! hee hee...Love from Newport Beach, Ca.Lorri
