Hi--another early riser. . .

I know because of reasons stated to --I saw the

first ones removed right in my room in the hospital; length

of surgery time shows that two pair couldn't have had capsules

removed and the surgeon told me he didn't remove the

the thickest ones; his Operative says it; and the material

received by the pathologist says it. Shell of implants was

not removed either. My last removal was in 1991 when it was not yet recommended to remove scar capsules--even,

for years afterward, it was only recommended for ruptures or gross distortions. A lot of ps still don't remove capsules--and

as you know, if removal is requested, many don't know how to

do it "en bloc"

My insurance (Cobra) ended in

7/92--before I knew much about capsules. Based on problems

that followed and findings that occurred, I have been refused

further insurance. And even though I might be ok now, any company knows I am apt to go for a TRAM reconstruction--

which costs oodles. Hopefully, my next employment will

have a group policy that covers a reconstruction--then it's

just a matter of extra bucks and time off if I do this. I don't

know how just a "cleaning out" is handled. A lot of companies

circumvent the law requiring reconstruction, by only covering

it if your mastectomy was done under that policy also. I may

be able to slide through by claiming another mastectomy, as

I found, after implant removal, that at least 25% of each breast

was never removed in the last one.

A CT is great for bone structure, but an MRI is usually done

for tissue and vessels. It is a rare physician who can read

either, so sending it to Dr. Melmed probably isn't going to

be a lot of help. If you wish to have copies of any films

done, a written request is made of the department that

keeps them--many will let you sign out the originals--they

don't keep good track of them--I've had my films from

three different hospitals in Indianapolis for over ten years

and no one has said a word. On the other hand, Mayo

will only send you copies for which you have paid them.

Same with Baylor. You just find out where the department

is, go there, and sign out the films. I would think your

attorney's office already has copies of these films--it

should have copies of anything pertaining to your breasts.

That would be my first stop. If something indicates that

you need to pursue this further, McNamara, with Feng, is

a radiologist who is real familiar and can read silicone on

an MRI--haven't heard CTs being used at all. Middlton, at

U of SC in San Diego was the first to do this, and he taught

McNamara, but I'm sure he is still reading silicone on MRIs.

Do you still have the underarm pain? Are you showing signs

of allergy? I thought you got better after removal. . .as far as

healing, brain fog, memory, etc., that takes a long time. I feel

the children's aspirin helps this considerably and Dr. Kolb commented

that she has this experience also. It is important to note that

HRT cuases the blood to be thicker--in patients with the

antiphospholipid sydrome this can be the answer to an awful

lot of brain problems, mainly memory deficits. If I were in

your shoes, my first move would be to find out how thick

my blood is--or, check to see if one can take a Bayer Children's aspirin with present meds (I'm sure you can) and

watch to see if it helps--that alone may take a couple of

months.

Your attorney undoubtedly has copies of all your files

and the Operative Report made by the doctor who removed them will tell what all he did; he surely sent

capsule to the pathologist and his report woiuld tell you

how much he received. --I would get a copies of

those from the attorney. (Do not expect the attorney's

office to have read these carefully and notified you if the

capsules were not entirely removed) My attorney furnished

me with copies of everything he had re my files--why not

ask yours to do this? That way, when you wonder something, you can go to your own files and satisfiy

that question in your mind. Not knowing is really a

bummer--and creates totally unnecesary stress.

Review: 1)Attorney first for copies of Operative Report

and Pathology Report. 2) Attorney for copies of films,

if they were in fact, CTs and you wish to have them read

3) Contact radiologist familiar with issue, and ask if he

can read a CT or whether he wants an MRI.

I think you will find your answers with 1). But write

if you have any questions, OK?

Fondly,

Bonnie

--chest is totally numb, as is neck and most of head

so pain is not a big consideration--not to mention that I

seem to possess a very high pain threshhold.

I'm not sure which report you mean--I have copies of

all my files here at home.

The person to whom I have spoken is a surgeon and a plastic

surgeon and head of plastics at our university med school. Don't

know as he is the one I would chose--I was more interested

in whether a "cleaning out" and partial mastectomy could be

done and how much it would cost.

I think that my reference was to but the email was still the one that was originally for you, does that make any sense?

Hey Bonnie had you ever been treated for yeast? did you take diflucan? If so what effect did it have on your brain fog? Do you believe that your brain fog was cured with the aspirin or the diflucan?

I am mostly curious about this for my friends who still have the brain fog. Mine is gone and I didn't ever take diflucan or aspirin, but I have been treated for major infection and done allot of other therapies, as well as my exercise program that is very very consistent.

--have never been treated for yeast or taken Diflucan.

The brain fog started to leave with aspirin.

It is important that it be Bayer Children's Aspirin--and more

is not better.

And lots of water for hydration; Dr. Kolb suggested Penta, which

is smaller molecules of water. (Bought a case today--anxious to see

if there is any change in the crusty patches of skin)

Hi Bonnie,

You really should have the 'originals' sent to him, so there is no question

about anyone 'tampering' with them. Most doctors do not want to keep any

form of x-rays they don't have to keep, as it takes too much space for them

to keep them, therefore, I'm certain he would return them to you ASAP.

You might also consider sending them to me to take to Dr. M, and I would

pick them up and send them back to you. I am only about 10 minutes from his

office, and do not mind doing this for you, if that would help.

Perhaps you should email Dr. M, and ask him about this! Please let me know!

Blessings,

Martha M.

We had an interesting story about Penta water on the radio show. A women called in and said that she bought Penta for her arthritis and it helped but her blood pressure also went low as she was on blood pressure medicine. She went to her doctor and he told her to stop the Penta water rather than lowering her blood pressure medicine. Great example. .

I've come to expect that from an awful lot of conventional

physicians--many who laughed when I said I was taking

supplements, until I started getting better.

By the way, Dr. Kolb, thank you for recommending the Penta

water; I am so impressed with one days results on my eyes! (long

story) I saw the pediatric strabismus surgeon today, who can document the difference and in fact, wanted to know all about it and wrote

down the name of it. (and this guy is about 70)

We decided to watch for a possible change in a couple of other things

about my eyes over the next three months as improvement in them

could render further eye surgery unnecessary.

And, as I expected, it's pretty expensive. . .it may have

to share 1/2 and 1/2 with my spring water after a month or so.
