Guest guest
Healthy Social Life Involving yourself in a large social circle may help keep you healthy, according to the results of a study of more than 28,000 male health professionals aged 42 to 77 years published in the April 15, 2002 issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology. The researchers found that during the 10-year study period, participants who were more socially isolated were nearly 20% more likely to die from any cause when compared to other participants who had more social interaction. Socially isolated participants had a whopping 82% higher chance of dying from heart disease. On the other hand, spending at least 11 hours per week in some form of social group, attending at least one religious service per year, and being married all seemed to reduce the risk of death from any cause. - M.
