Guest guest
Haven't touched textured but that makes perfect sense and as you said--"they" don't think silicone is harmful. Of course one wonders why "they" don't tell us it bleeds or flakes 1) if they don't think it's harmful 2) so we can decide whether we want anything extra in our bodies. I even asked about free silicone in my body and the plastic surgeon just flat out lied and said it couldn't happen. Knowing who he was, and when this occurred, indicates he knew well about gel bleed and rupture. Now this guy is one of plastic surgery's leaders--and silicone implant pioneers. . .teaching others. I've seen him quoted and lying about another issue--it must be his problem--and one can now see where these problems lead when one leads or teaches. The National Libarary of Medicine has many articles re particulates from implanted materials, including hard silicone. Bonnie
Guest guest
Darlene: I have heard textured implants are more hazardous because of their ability to flake off. Just how popular are these textured type? Mine were smooth. Funny thing is, I don't know what company made them. My jackass PS would not tell me. I really hate that man. I know that sounds mean to say, but I do. Are you feeling better these days? I'm still in pain 30 days after. Take care. -Marie
Guest guest
Darlene Nope I never saw my implants or for that matter any textured implants. I did at one consult see some smooth silicone ones, they felt smooth and good, I also saw some smooth saline ones, this was what I thought I was getting, but I was not informed correctly and my PS used the textured ones instead. I have asked Patty about hers cause she took them home with her, and she said they didn't appear to have been flaking off, I don't know about mine cause I was afraid to take them as I wanted the material analyzed so I didn't touch them or see them and Dr Feng sent them to be analyzed by Dr Blais in Canada. Nothing surprises me though, maybe the reason so many of us with textured got so ill so fast is the flaking that you are talking about. Gosh I would love to see a photo of them, do you have a scanner or digital camera? If not then maybe you could just take a regular photo and send it to me, I would love to see this. I hope that you will find a way to detox your body and that you will be better soon. Keep us informed of how you do. Guest guest
Hi , The implants are not so bad to flake that if you touch them things start to flake off, but it's like, if you rub across them or maybe if you lightly scrape them with your fingernail, you can see particles coming right off. (trying to create the right picture here) lol I just think it is too easy for particles to come off that are not even microscopic. I can only imagine what worked it way off over time with fluid, muscle movement, laying on stomach/side. I am no doctor, but I'm sure that particles did come of at least in the capsule if not beyond. Have you see the report where they find silicone in the capsules of most explanted??? I can send it to you, I saved it. Maybe more have seen the same thing. At first I didn't want to even look at them, but I'm glad I did. I would be glad to send you a pic of them. Maybe when I get to feeling good, I'll find a way to place them on something that will show the particles as well. Talk to you soon. Guest guest
-Marie Hey girl are you still hurting from your lift? Is it just the incisions or what? I hurt for 3 months but I assumed it was from the explant more than the lift. Hey I think you are going easy on the ps after what he did to you! hugs ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Guest guest
Hi Marie, I think they were pretty popular a few years ago, and know they have to be textured if they are not round, so they will not turn. The textured is supposed to help keep the implant from slipping, as it holds in place better and the body can 'grip' it better. Guess I thought I really did my homework, but turns out I didn't do that well after all, or I would have never had it done in the first place. I'm feeling very good surgery wise, it has only been a few days, and I'm off my pain meds, I took Advil today, I'm still tired and a bit achy / flulike, but I think I need to rest some, I felt so good yesterday I think I over did it. I'm really very happy to be just 'me' again, no more implants! Who did your explant? I can't keep everyone straight (sorry). Did you have a lift too? I hope you get to feeling good soon, I know with most surgeries, it takes a month or two to feel 100% most of the time. Take care & E-Z easy (((HUGS))) Darlene > Darlene: > I have heard textured implants are more hazardous because of their ability to > flake off. > > Just how popular are these textured type? Guest guest
Textured are still quite popular, it is said they cause less capsular contracture, I don't know, it seems that they are firmer too, and wrikle more. I have seen allot of girls on pro implant sites that not only have tx but have silicone gel too yikes! ----- Original Message ----- From: " cdpayne64 " <cdpayne64@...> < > Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2002 4:18 PM Subject: Re: My implants-(anyone else examine textured?) > Hi Marie, > > I think they were pretty popular a few years ago, and know they have > to be textured if they are not round, so they will not turn. Guest guest
Hi Darlene I just read your post and got to wondering about my implants, which I also have in my posession. They are not textured (thank God) but I checked them out anyway. Nothing whatsoever comes off them, it's like feeling a water balloon....BUT, it actually made me feel ill at the thought that I had touched these again with my bare hands and could have thrown up! I immediately scrubbed my hands with extremely hot water and soap and promptly put them back in their new home....I will NEVER touch them again unless I have gloves on! I did read somewhere (maybe Lany's site?) that they are highly toxic and should not be handled without gloves. I didn't think I had this emotional issue but obviously I have. Also another thing, one of them has a teeny little hole in it (mine were not drained) and I realised this because it had moisture around it, I thought it was coming through the shell until I put pressure on it and seen the tiny droplets coming out. I'm hoping now that my surgeon accidently did this when removing them and not when my implanting surgeon put them in!!!!!! What an horrific thought! I am not sick though, so I dismiss that. Anyway, happy healing, isn't it wonderful to be implant free? Love Keli. > Hi all, > > I just wondered if any of you who have seen textured implants before, > has ever noticed how the material flakes off of them so easy! Guest guest
Thanks Keli, I washed my hands with antibacterial soap and hot water right after, but I never thought about the dangers of touching them with hands. Then again I haven't recieved my cultures back yet either, so I'll wear golves if I handle them again. I still can't get over how funny they feel. I sure hope that hole was made during explant too, I wonder if you PS knows or not. How are you doing these days? I hope you are doing well, and yes it is great to be implant FREE!
