. . . thanks - and please thank Nikki too.

Could you ask her a few more questions? . . . How often does the doctor check her? . . . does he repeat the same tests, questionaire each time? How long will the study run? . . . Does the doctor report everything she tells him? . . . I'm curious about what blood tests are being done . .. do you suppose they would tell her?

The reflex test is a neurological test. . . (I no longer have ANY reflexes in my feet! . . . Of course, it's been 25 years since I was implanted . . . and probably ten years before that showed up.)

Has she had any complications? CC? replacements? modifications? . . . if so, does she KNOW that they were they reported?

It's good to know her doctor is taking the study seriously. I hope everything goes well for her.

No, they don't do all those tests, although, if the surgeon feels it's necessary, you may be referred to another doctor for physical examinations. I did have a blood test, and I think I had a reflex test (can't remember for sure, cause it was almost 2 years ago). They go over your medical history. However, when they go over your medical history, it's not just 20 questions asking different things. They ask about symptoms (for instance, "have you ever experienced numbness or tingling in the hands"), not just about what you've been diagnosed with. They questions are specific, and not "generalized". This is to help make sure that no "symptoms" are overlooked. Also, someone does the history WITH you. They don't leave you in the room with a paper and pencil and let you do it alone. They explained everything to me, in detail, so that I completely understood what the question was. I'm not lying , the stack of papers that had to be filled out was HUGE, lol. Like I said, it took an hour and a half to get thru it all.

Rogene,

Nikki is no longer a part of the study, reason why? CC twice with gel implants, in less than 2 years, so she now has saline, mentor implants, smooth shell and takes the drug accolate to keep the CC at bay. I feel for her, cause she is not sick or anything and like all of us at one time, she really likes her implants, which is why she is still trying so hard to keep them. One day if she has problems at least she will know where to go to for help, here and explantation.com are welcome to her and they actually are pretty nice on her site, compared to "s" forum, these girls are allot more realistic, in fact when I posted on her site they all were quite kind to me and sympathetic.

I can still ask her these questions but I think she pretty much answered all she could, she had to be taken out of the study due to the CC she had that recurred.

Take care

And it would be interesting to see how the Accolate works--

imagine they are keeping a pretty close watch on Nikki and her liver.

I'm intrigued by the alleged claims that Accolate is what

softens scar capsules. . .

IMHO, Nikki is exactly the kind of patient who should remain in the study . .. if for nothing else, to see what changes occur after salines, and to see how she fares in the long term. Sensory loss, ANA increase, allergies, etc. . . . Removing these women from the study results in statistics that favor the manufacturer's at the expense of the women. But then, the implant pushers never did care about the welfare of the women!

Give Nikki my thanks and best wishes. If she has any questions, we'll be here. I hope everything goes well for her.

--The trial of it should spread like wildfire--I wonder

how many plastic surgeons even know of it.

Were your good results with a saline or silicone-filled

implant?

As it seems to work so well on so many, I would

think the paricular leukotrienes involved would

give researchers some clue into figuring out

what's going on here with capsule and capsular contraction.

And since it binds to mostly albumin, wouldn't it

be more fruitful to check that sometime prior to

surgery--to give the patient time to enhance it,

if needed (He/she could be on other meds that

also occupy those receptors--like I think some

of them are occupied by thyroid hormone)to

increase the probability of its succcess?

If I had a thyroid patient, think I'd want to know

how much povidone is in that base, also--could

create some new problems here.

In a saline patient with a severe unilateral capsular contracture from another surgeon who went through the axilla. .
