, I'm not too familiar with what is used in cholecystectomies, but if clips are to be used, I would discuss with the doc on Mon your concerns and see if there is any way that he can not use clips. Tell him how passionate you are about not having any metal in your body, and see what he says. I was very adamant that no hardware be used in my neck surgery, and my surgeon knew my desire not to have it. He said he'd try his best to not use hardware, but that he may have to. I was okay with that because I knew that he would do everything in his power to not use hardware. If it is possible with your surgery, tell your surgeon this and tell him how important it is to you. e ----- Original Message ----- From: shihtzusrock@... Sent: Saturday, June 29, 2002 11:54 AM Subject: Clamps during surgery After reading this booklet for my GB surgery, I'm concerned with thetiny metal clips used to close off the duct & bood vessels. It saysthese tiny clips stay in your body and are harmless. When I had my hysterectomy in 1991, I wonder if they used these metalclips? I just went thru 5 1/2 hours of MRI's this past few months(April) and am now concerned.Does anyone know anything if they use metal clips during hysterectomies? And is it possible to not have these metal clips during my GB surgery? The booklet says it was updated in 2001.Thanks,
