Guest guest
Hi Ari, You sound allot like me when I first got sick, though my spaciness was constant and never went away. I can tell you that you definitely want to see a Dr who will believe in you if you are going to get your implants removed. I am sure that there are many good PS's but remember that if it is your implants making you ill, you don't just need a good PS you need one that believes in implants, illness, and removal with capsulectomy en bloc if possible, since so many times the capsules can be full of particles etc. I went to Dr Feng in Cleveland Ohio, flew out there from Ca because she has a reputation as one of the best for this type of procedure. I am happy that I did, as I am so much better now, my spacy head is gone, my energy levels are great, I feel really really good now, in fact I can honestly say that this is the best I have felt in years! Yes I am serious, I am traveling right now, so I have not been able to get on line as much as I would like but when I saw your email I had to respond. Girl you can recover, and the hair loss is pretty common in allot of women too, I have a good friend who was so ill and was losing tons of hair, she is in NYC I just heard from her and she is doing great now, and the hair loss finally stopped, it took her almost 2 years to get well, it has taken me almost that long as well to recover fully, but I was doing better by about 9 months or so. I didn't ever have the hair loss, but I had everything else, pain, fatigue, spacey head, memory problems etc. I know that it was def the implants in my case. Do you know what kind of implants you have? Are they smooth or textured? it seems the problems are common in both type, but something about the textured ones seem a bit worse, either way you need to see a scecialist, and depending on how far you are willing to travel and how much you are willing to spend there are several. There is Dr Feng as I mentioned in Ohio, Dr Kolb in Atlanta also does a great job and has a great detox program as well, you can contact her via email or Feng via phone. I can get you the info or you can get it off the saline support site by going to the files section of the website and looking on the recomended surgeons list. Either one would be a good choice. I don't know of anyone in your area from personal experience but the other girls on this site hopefully will be able to steer you towards someone. If not then by all means check out Dr Feng, she will def do a thorugh job and make you look great too. I am so sorry to hear of your problems with implants, it is allot more common than many women would believe and it is so sad and such a shame but better to do someting now than to wait for it too continue to get worse. I will be back home this Sunday, in the meantime I will try to pop on the computer where I am staying to see if you post anymore questions, hopefully some of the other wonderful ladies on the site will see your post and offer some advice as well. Please keep us up to date on what you do and how you are doing. We are here for you to support you while you go through this trying time. hugs -- In @y..., " ariaded " <Ariaded@a...> wrote: > Hi, I am new to this group. Guest guest
Ari, The most important thing for you to know and remember is that this is not "all in your head." So many of us have similar, if not the same, symptoms as you are having, and we have been told it's in our head. But we all know better, and I want to be one of the first women to congratulate you on connecting the symptoms to your implants, as well as for doing some research and ending up a member of this support group. The women in this group have lots of information and are more than willing to share with others. It is a source of support, encouragement, and knowledge. We have all been where you're at, and some of us still are, but it makes all the difference in the world to know that there are many women out there who have health problems related to implants. You don't feel so alone. You didn't mention where you live, but you did ask if there were any good docs in the Chicago or southern Connecticut area. I don't know of any doc in the Connecticut area, but if you are willing to travel outside of Chicago, then there is Dr. Feng in Cleveland. She is supposed to be excellent, and she is one of the plastic surgeons we frequently refer women to for explant. She can be contacted by email and perhaps you can discuss your concerns with her before making the committment to fly (or drive) there. There are other docs frequently referred to, but they are not in the areas you are looking at. However, if you are willing to travel, then we can give you plenty of other names. Don't give up on this fight, and don't EVER let any doctor tell you it's all in your head, or nothing's wrong. You know something is wrong, and you know your body better than anyone else. Stick to your guns and find a good ps to remove your implants and get you on the road to recovery. e ----- Original Message ----- From: ariaded Sent: Wednesday, July 10, 2002 11:08 AM Subject: Help finding a doctor Hi, I am new to this group. I think I am having problems due to my implants. They are saline filled and had them in Jan 1997. I thought I was fine, but if I look at it now I think my problems started just after a year. I began to see more hair loss, that I thought was normal. I began to have panic attacks that I attributed to a bad breakup. The doctor put me on buspar. I hated it and stopped taking it after a short while. The attacks subsided for a while but I still got a bit of a panicky and spacy feeling at times. I just did not figure out what it could be at the time. My memory as well has just been deteriorating more and more. At first I thought it was because Alzhimers runs in my family, but I am only 27. Then I thought it was from my 2 pregnancies and looking after the children. But when your husband has to remind you daily of things he just told you 5 minutes ago you know something is not right. I feel tired and at first I blamed it on too much exercise, then on too much work then on beign pregnant then on having two children. It is not debilitating fatigue but I do notice it has not been getting better, even with help with the children and housework. I can easily sleep 8 hours and wake up feeling groggy. I began having occasional yeast infections and for the past two years I get them almost every month. It wasn't until 2 days ago that it clicked. I have been losing an extreme amount of hair. Now I know that you experience some hair loss after birth, but it has been 9 months and it is just getting worst. I can't even run my hand through my hair without ending up with hair everywhere. No women in my family have baldness. I decided to do some internet research on hairloss in young women and lo and behold I find a site that mentions breast implants. I was petrified because I just saw the big picture. It could be coincidence, but why risk my health. I know that if I go to the doctor they will think it is all in my head. My husband does not understand why I feel tired all the time he is 16 years older than me and has more energy than I do. I feel lazy and unmotivated. Sometimes I get spacy and get that panicky feeling. I swear I would think I was going crazy. It is not easy to concentrate at times. I am sure it is not as bad as some of you have it, but I rather catch it sooner than later. I am thinking about explant as I do not care for my implants anymore. If anyone knows of a good doctor in Chicago or in southern Connecticut please reply. I need to have tests done and I don't want a doctor who will completely dismiss the implants as a possible cause. Thanks for hearing me out. Ari
Guest guest
We are in Michigan and now travel to NY (Manhatten) to see a LLMD. We had one here, but after 14 months, there was no improvement for my daughter, and she was actually worse in many respects. So now we bite the bullet and fly to NY every couple of months. Feb will be our 3rd visit, and we are extremely happy with our new LLMD. Dr. R is very well respected in the Lyme community, and we consider the expense and hassle of traveling well worth getting in to see him. He is usually booked 2 months in advance, especially for new patients. Worth the wait though. If you want contact information, email me privately. Charlotte iamwhimsy@... http://whimsy.t35.com [ ] Help Finding a Doctor I am new to all of this and a little (a lot!) overwhelmed! My six year old was diagnosed with lymes last week. Long story short, she has had knee pains that wake her up on a very regular basis for 2 - 3 years now, and no one really believed her or wrote it off as growing pains. She has been seeming more and more fatigued over the past few months, having trouble staying up past 7:00 - sometimes falling asleep earlier than that. About two years ago, she started having significant obsessive compulsive behaviors and was treated for seven months at University of Pennsylvania in Philly for OCD. She has also been sent to eye doctor because she has been having chronic headaches for years. Finally, we got the lyme disagnosis (which they are saying is accounting for the knee pains, fatigue and headaches - but, I am beginning to understand may also account for her anxiety disorder). Our pschychologist suggested that we go to a LLMD, as it seems that our daughter has had this for years untreated. I live in Lancaster County, PA - but would be happy to travel to Philly or Baltimore - or WHEREEVER to find a doctor to help her. Would I start at a rheumatologist or does someone have a suggestion? THANKS!!!
Guest guest
Hello and welcome to this group but I'm sorry you are in the situation that you have to join. This is an amazing group of people who are always so helpful and caring. I live on the west coast so can't help you w/ a doctor where you live but I just wanted to make a comment. Your daughter's OCD and anxiety disorder is most likely related to Lyme or another infection that is often w/ Lyme. My son has experienced severe anxiety and some OCD behaviors and it have improved only when we began treatment. Good luck to you and I hope you find a good Lyme doctor w/ experience in treating, esp children.
