View this article onlyDate: 2002-08-13 18:46:41 PST I know that the majority of the posts are regarding medical/science

information. But as a woman who has had silicone implants since 1987

and recently become too ill to work. I was wondering how the other

women who are also disabled able to make it? I don't mean to sound

like I am a whiner, I have been self supporting for just about all my

adult life. I reared a son by myself when my ex husband would not pay

support. I made the mistake of getting implants back in 1987, the

doctor told me they were safe and would last a lifetime. Now I am

sick and tired all the time. I have muscle aches and pains (as if I

had been in a gym over doing a hard work out) all the time. I

recently had knee surgery and was told by my doctor that I have severe

osteo arthritis, I am starting the attempt to file and qualify for

social security based on that but I know that my problems with

silicone are the main reason I am ill all the time. That added with

the severe arthritis in my knee is torture. I guess my question is

for those women who are also on their own and how they made it

financially. I am a nurse and the fear of giving the wrong medication

or causing someones death(due to my memory problems) was enough to

make me sick. Maybe no one can understand this, but I hope there is

someone out there that I can relate to and can help me thru this. I

went to two doctors about my problems and was totally ignored when I

told them I had silicone breast implants. Unfortunately I do not have

the money to keep searching for other doctors who might be more

experienced with silicone.
