Guest guest
Bonnie, Thank you for referring me to that site. Now I'm really curious. I had migraines as a child and well into my teen yrs. They were very infrequent in my early 20's, then came back with a vengeance in my late 20's, when all my other health problems started. I never knew that headaches were a sign of Syndrome! However, my rheumy and a neurologist (not the neurologist I see in Denver now), both tested me for anticardiolipin antibodies, but it came back negative. Now, the lupus anticoagulant, I've never heard of, unless it's known as another name. So, I'm not sure that I've ever been tested for that. However, I had been dx'd with SLE in 1998, and I can't imagine that this particular test was not done on me. Maybe it was and did come back +, therefore it may have been one of the things that solidified my SLE dx. At that point in time, I was just so miserable, that I rarely asked (or cared) what my test results were. Maybe I should have. That stroke I had in the left cerebellum definately affected me, and continues to affect me. I have residual numbness in my right arm and leg. You would never know by looking at me because it is very mild. But now with the onset of these new symptoms, I'm worried that I've had another stroke. It is so scary and frustrating to be carrying on a conversation with someone, and then not be able to verbalize the words that are in your head. It all comes out as stuttering and what I call "mush." My mom thought I was taking too many pain pills, but she made that comment when I was on my way to the airport last wk, and I hadn't taken any pain pills, nor do I ever take that many. I take them only when I absolutely need them, and that may be once a wk, if even that. Maybe I will ask my cardiac surgeon, as he knows my hx as well, and he may be willing to put me on Plavix. Like I said, I can't take ASA, and coumadin requires frequent monitoring of your protime and INR. That is not required with Plavix. Do you know if Plavix could or would be effective with Syndrome? Also of note, in 1997, I had a clot in my subclavian vein. I plan to resume seeing my rheumy in Denver when I get back there and he will order any test I ask him to. But that won't be until at least Nov, if not Dec. I'm really worried that I've had another stroke, and as we all know, the longer you go without treatment, the more permanent the side effects are. e
