In 9993 , I lost a breast to an infiltrating interductal carcenoma,

stage 2. I was " rebuilt " with a Mentor implant that contained both

silicone and saline. when the implant became hard, i was tole by the

plastic surgeon that this was " normal " . Three years ago, I developed

symptoms that I did not associate with the implant. They included

hives, terrible fatigue, nausa. One day,as I prepared to go to work,

I touched what I thought was a pimple under my arm. a massive amount

of pus shot out. I saw a surgeon and was told that I had a life

threatning infection as a result of my implant coming apart. It took a

long period to recover from the infection and additional surgery.Of

course, Mentor paid none of the costs. I am a otherwise healthy

women, having run two marathons in the two years prior to being

diagnosed with cancer.I am damn mad about what happened and hope

other women will not suffer as I have. I will be glad to send a

picture of my mulatated chest to anyone who wants to see it. My e-

mail address is:kestrelnst@...
