Guest guest
, I am so happy that you are searching the internet for answers to your questions. This is the most important step as the knowledge you gain will be priceless. And fortunately, Ilena has forwarded your email to a group of women who have an incredible amount of knowledge about implants. We have all been sickened by implants and gone through conflicting emotions about what to do; yet each of our stories is so unique. Without a doubt, if there is silicone leaking externally, you need to remove the implants ASAP. If silicone is leaking externally, then you can imagine what is going on internally. It is in your best interest to seek out a doc who will remove them ASAP. You mentioned that your implanting surgeon was in Savannah, GA. Do you live in GA? Dr. Kolb is in Atlanta, and understands and is knowlegeable about the implant controversy. Perhaps you can get in touch with her if you are still in GA. If you are not in GA, let us know, as we do have a list of ps' who can and will remove implants, and most do believe we have been sickened by them. You do not want to go to any 'ole ps. You need to find a ps who has knowledge about implants, and understands the importance of removing the implants en bloc. This is when the whole implant, including capsule/shell, is removed as one. It is absolutely crucial to have an explant done this way, especially if yours are leaking silicone. You don't want any doc going in there, ripping them out in pieces, and spilling more silicone into your body. The longer you leave those implants in you, the more they are going to leak silicone into your systemic system, and hence, the more chances for multi-system problems. Do not let any ps tell you that by removing the implant you will be deformed and therefore need another set of implants. This simply is not true. While some people opt for a mastopexy (breast lift) at the time of explant, others don't even need a mastopexy. But by going to a well known, well respected doctor, you will more than likely have a good and pleasing aesthetic result. After all, the work done on you and the outcome is a reflection of their skill, and if you're not happy, well, lets just say, word of mouth gets around..... Don't waste anytime. Find a ps you can trust and who has the knowledge. You will probably have to travel to see a good doc, but in the long run, it will be worth it. I know that's easier said than done, especially when you don't have insurance, but keep in mind, where there's a will, there's a way...... Hang in there, and let me or the group know if there is anything else we can help you with. e
