Guest guest
Hello, I am writting because i am a bit worry about my best friend. She got saline implants for cosmetic reasons about 1 year ago. Everything went well for her, she didn't have infecttion neither capular contracture and they look great. But around 3 months ago, she started getting the flu quite often, and one time she even fainted. Now she is beeing sick for 2 weeks with really high fever, and have to be taken to hospital few times; spended there the last 2 days. The doctors can't see what it is exactly wrong with her, they just know she have some kind of infection, but don't know which is the reason. Doctors say is impossible this can be related to her implants, and she does not want to hear about the possibility neither. Do you think all that can be related to her saline implants?? Do you know of any similar case?? Thank you.
Guest guest
YES, it's quite definitely a possibility her illness is related to her breast implants. I would suggest they start treating her for, and looking for something like " toxic shock syndrome " ! While it may not be exactly that, it's bound to be some form of bacterial infection, as a result of bacterial buildup and leakage from her implants! Please keep us advised, and if you need me to contact a physician in Dallas to call her doctor, please let me know!!! Guest guest
Thank you very much for your reply Martha, i do think it is a possibility that her illness is related to the implants as well; I almost got implants myself few years ago, but after searching information on the web and seeing some web sites and reading some forums similar to this one; i gave up the idea. Will talk to her about this test she should do, but i much doubt she would listen, as she is completely sure the implants have nothing to do with her health problems. Does not help much that we live in Hong Kong, where plastic surgery is not as popular and advance as it is in USA, and nobody here really knows about the problems related to implants. Dr. didn`t even tell her about the capsular contracture possibility; she learn about it few months ago talking with me; she was told there is a very easy surgery with no complications. We ask the doctor who treated her in the hospital the other day if the implants may be affecting her health, but he said it was not possible at all. Anyway, i just hope her health get better. Thank you very much for your kind interest. A.A. > YES, it's quite definitely a possibility her illness is related to her > breast implants. Guest guest
I think this was meant for the group, so I am forwarding it. However, I do want to state that just because someone has had implants for 10 years doesn't mean that they can't have problems further down the road. We already have women on the group who have had implants for many years, only to become extremely ill with all of the disease symptoms we have been discussing. A good example is one of our newest members, Daryl, who has yet to post, but to whom I have been personally in contact with. She has had saline implants for 12 years, but has been sick for the last 4 with unrelenting pain and memory problems, depression, and the list goes on. That means she got sick 8 years after implantation. I also know women who have had implants for longer than 10 years and are not ill now. However, they are not ill with overt and obvious symptoms--but they do have health complaints. They just call it " aging " . I call it denial. Yes, looking at the big picture is always recommended, but it is also wise not to also overlook the obvious wart on the nose. Guest guest
Hi there, Thank you for writing on behalf of your friend. I am sorry to hear that she is not open to the idea that she may be harmed from her implants, but that is a very real possibility. It is all the more realistic, given the fact that she is experiencing these strange symptoms, and the doctors are not sure what it is. If there is some sort of infection, it would seem very possible that it could have been instigated from her implants, given the fact that surgical procedures expose the body to possibilities of infection, saline implants are not entirely sterile, and fungus and bacteria are very significantly associated with saline implants. Doctors do not like to look to the implants as a possible source of illnes. Why, I don't know. It just seems too unfathomable to them, I guess, but to those of us who have been through the experience of disrupted health after getting implants, and the regaining of that health after their removal, it just makes too much sense. In terms of similar cases, I can tell you that I know of women who have been ill, had burning in their chest, had flu very often, and general malaise, and were found to have infection in their bodies, specifically around their implants. One woman I met told me that when her chest was opened up to remove the implants, they were sitting in a sea of green ooze. Pretty clear evidence of infection, in my opinion. Please research the studies we have available on our website, and let us know how your friend fares. Unless the infection is addressed, and the source of the infection removed, she will not likely improve greatly.
