Guest guest
Hi. I went to the doctor today and was told I have Adrenal Insufficiency. Does anyone else have this or know about it? Please give me some info if you do. Thanks. marie
Guest guest
Marie, If you are having Thyroid problems this is a common factor. I was also told this.(About adrenel distress) And I was told that the two work closely together. When the throid is under stress, its either due to adrenel disfunction, or the other way around. But they usually go hand in hand.

Guest guest
LM-- I know very little about adrenal insufficiency, however I do know that one of the things it affects is the thyroid status. To take exogenous hormones with this condition may make it manifest or may make it worse--this is in the package insert for synthetic thyroid hormones. The package insert for Armour natural thyroid hormones says to treat the adrenal insufficiency first. I don't know how it is treated by alternative specialists, but conventional physicians used to administer a mild dose of Prednisone (it's like cortisol) Jack Kennedy had an adrenal insufficiency;there are essentially three kinds-- adrenocortical, mineralcortical or both--I'm not sure which he had; there are also autoimmune adrenal insufficiencies. There are a lot of things that can bring it on and of course, a genetic predispostion is suspected. Your doctor will know more when she gets the other test results. I think this is one of those things that we are real glad is found early as it can affect a ton of other things if it eventually manifests by affecting a lot of other organs. Guest guest
Hi Girls, FYI! The first thing my Internist & Endocrinologist insisted on 'ruling out', with me, was a pituatary gland tumor! I've had the 'pleasure' of going through this procedure a couple of times in the past 3-years, as they cannot seem to get my thyroid panels to get 'in sync'! You should find more information by researching this disorder under 's Disease. If you do not find all the answers to your questions re this disorder, under "'s Disease", please let me know, and I will be quite willing to help!
