New non-surgical breast enhancement here inside two years Story filed: 12:44 Wednesday 18th September 2002 http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_673166.html A new breast enhancement which can be performed under local anaesthetic in under an hour could be available within two years. It doesn't use implants but involves injecting hyaluronic acid, previously used as a "wrinkle filler", to change the breasts' shape and size. The London Evening Standard says the enhancement has been developed by the Swedish company Q-Med and the first clinical trials are due to start in weeks. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/dynamic/news/top_story.html?in_review_id=699595 & in_review_text_id=672689 Tenstam-Lunduall, a vice-president of Q-Med said the procedure should be cheaper than having normal implants. http://www.q-med.com/index2.asp?mid=14 MACROLANE for body countouring http://www.bit.se/bitonline/2002/06/19/20020619BIT01320/06190132.htm Professor Coughlan, president of the Royal Society of Medicine's plastic surgery division, said: "I think women who may be a bit squeamish about the idea of having silicone breast implants may be tempted by the idea of a non-surgical procedure which can enhance or augment their breasts." The new procedure uses Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid in a gel form. The acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body. The effects will not be as dramatic as conventional breast implants and will only last for two to three years rather than being permanent. Story filed: 12:44 Wednesday 18th September 2002
