Guest guest
e: Hi. Thanks for your kind words. I have not had a chance to see your pics but I was told that your breasts look good. I'm glad that you're recovering nicely. How's the hair loss going? Did it stop? Make sure your iron levels are good and your thyroid is functioning well. I guess I don't have to tell you this as I'm sure you're already aware of this effluvium business--it sux, huh? Take care. -Marie
Guest guest
-Marie, You know, I'm baffled about my hair loss. It is probably at it's worst right now. I run my fingers through my hair, and a ton comes out (at least to me). I tried counting individual hairs about a wk ago, and stopped when I got to 30. My hair is everywhere----it's all over the bathroom floor, clogs up the drains, and is just all over--on the sofa, on the bed, it's disgusting. And I've noticed that my hair in general is looking the worst it's looked in a long time. It's real dry and just won't do anything. I have fine, thin hair to begin with, so any "problems" are very noticeable. I condition my hair w/ good conditioners, and don't wash my hair everyday, but rather every other day. On the days I don't wash it, I just condition it. I had heard that it's not good to wash your hair everyday, so that's why I started doing the every other day thing. But it's just brittle. I am wondering if the sun and harsh environmental conditions here in Tucson are playing a role in my hair loss and it not looking healthy at all. Even though I'm not out in the sun a lot, the sun is so intense here that maybe when I am in the sun, it's just enough to do damage. Just another reason to be getting out of Tucson and heading back to Denver! My iron has always been WNL (within normal limits), and my thyroid is normal. It's on the low end of normal, but normal nonetheless. I took Cytomel (T3) back in '97-98 because my thyroid was on the low side, and also to augment the antidepressant I was on. But we didn't see any difference either in my mood or my thyroid level, so I stopped it. My rheumy since has said that there is absolutely no reason for me to be on any thyroid replacement since everything is WNL, and as we all know, taking a drug when you don't really need it (esp thyroid replacement) can result in adverse/unwanted side effects. I am trying to detox myself, and have been taking a good multivit w/ antioxidants, I recently started chlorella for the detox, as well as acidophillus, and calcium/Mg citrate. I will be switching to calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a much better form of calcium because it is what our bones are made of, and is easily absorbed, and doesn't need food to help with absorption. So, what am I doing wrong? I'm so distressed at my hair loss. I don't have any bald patches (yet), but you can definately tell how thin and unhealthy my hair is. It has never been this unhealthy. My hair may be thin, but it's always been healthy and shiny. Now it doesn't even have that shine to it anymore. HELP!!!!!!!! e ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Guest guest
Hi e: I know how you feel. This hair loss shit has been so hard on me too. I too am looking for a doctor to help me with this. Are you seeing a doctor for this problem? How much of your hair have you lost? I've lost over 50%. It's horribly devastating. Some days are nearly impossible to get through because of this. If anyone out there knows of a doc to help e and I, please write to us. Take care, -Marie
Guest guest
Marie, I too lost alot of hair when I was Hypothyroid (enough to fill a fist in the shower for months ) and I have read & heard Primrose oil capsules help, and they seemed to for me, even as I was still hypothyroid. I've been on it for about 6 months now, and there is a huge difference. Even with the shine too, as my hair became so brittle and yuck-DULL! . Hope that can help a little.
