Guest guest
PATTY What did I tell you about weight loss and starving! GIRL DO NOT DO IT! you have to realize that at 5'7" and 130 pounds you are probably at the weight your body wants to be, now my suggestion is you need to eat more, don't starve, it will not work anyhow. My advice is weight training. You need more muscle mass and that will rev up your metabolism, you will be totally amazed at how much better you will look, the scale numbers may not change but you will not care, the numbers don't really mean shit! I told you, I am 5'3" tall and weight 120-124 and that is perfect for me. I wear a size 3/4 usually, sometimes the occasional 5, which I try not to let the size thing drive me nuts either. I was like you before, obsessed with thinking I had to be 115, well ya know what, no matter what I do, if I do cardio 6 days a week and starve or if I do it 4 days a week and eat normal, I cannot get down to 115, cannot get there. I know I have dense muscle tissue and that is what the key is. My sister is the same, tiny, size 1 at times, and only 5'1 tall, but she weighs 130 pounds, from weightlifting. THe key is eating allot or protein and still (in my own opinion) lots of complex carbs esp before a big work out, you will find you will get buffed, tone, and your furnace will kick ass. It seems to me your goal of being 125 and 5'7" is unrealistic. Esp if you are working out, throw out that numbers obsession and throw in some weighttraiing! YOu will see, the difference will amaze you, not only that girl, but you will find that you need to eat more, to rev up that metabolizm. You should see how much I eat, I never gain weight, the key is the physical and the food you eat. Try eating 5-6 times a day instead of 3. I eat all the time, have some fruit and cheese, cottage cheese, eggs for breakfast, eat some potatoes with cheese or some sour cream, have a killer steak for dinner with lots of greens, or chicken etc.... brown rice, I know some don't feel carbs are good but ya know what if you want to have energy you need some. Plus high pro with no carbs is hard on your kidneys. Anyhow I am so proud of you for your weight loss, now don't stress on the numbers game and do not starve yourself. Make sure you start weight training though, it will make a huge difference in how you look. Trust me, you should see my back, it is awesome, my back is one of my favorite body parts, it is all ripply and muscular it looks fab! And my arms too, lately with all the swimming and pilates I swear I am the fittest I have ever been and that metabolism of mine has kicked in so that I don't stress over food at all anymore, I just eat allot so that my body keeps on burning. Remember your body may be happy at 130 but you still can change the way it looks that is where the weights come in. If you add muscle mass you burn more fat and calories it is simple and effective! hugs C ----- Original Message ----- From: ~*Patty*~ Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 8:22 AM Subject: Re: My case of hashimotos WOW, ! This is just so awesome!! Wow, wow, wow! That's all I can say! I love it when the blood work PROVES it all! There is no way someone could look you in the eye and say your implants weren't making you sick. I am shocked about the eggs though--I couldn't imagine eating over a dozen eggs a week. My cholesterol levels, triglycerides and the actual HDL/LDL ratios were so awesome the last time I had it checked the doctor congratulated me. I wonder what would happen if I started eating that many eggs???? I know I absolutely don't want to gain any weight. , how is the weight thing going? I am getting bummed because I am eating so little, I feel hungry all the time, (I eat all 3 meals, but just small portions), and my weight loss has stopped, even with exercising, thyroid meds, and starving! I am scared to add alot of fat to my diet. Well, you certainly started my day off right! It is so good to hear news like yours. Congratulations ! Thanks so much for sharing! Well, I bet this will perk you up seeing that you have just be diagnosed with Hashimtos. My endo told me that I would always have antibodies attacking my thyroid, the #'s of the antibodies could fluctuate somewhat, but they'd always be high and be there for the rest of my life destroying my thyroid. Well, my thyroidglublin levels were about 12,000 should be under 2(wow!!!) and my thyroid perovidase was about 1100, should be under 2. Now, on the other hand Dr. mercola believes Hashimtos is completly treatable, and in almost all cases through diet, stress reduction, and excersise you can stop the attack, and then once the attack stops, your thyroid is left alone to do it's job, and it most cases will. Guess what? In three months on his plan, and after removing those damn implants my throidglublin levels went from 12,000 to 90!And my thyroid peroxidase went from 1100 to 70! Isn't that great!!! I couldn't believe how fast those numbers went down! Praise the Lord. And eating over a dozen eggs a week, and more protein my cholesterol went down 31 points! Also, my liver function tests improved a bit, insulin levels are great, and my white blood cells increased! All I have to do is get those attack #'s down to under 2 and I am considered hashimto's free, and then we will wait & see through bloodwork, how my thyroid is functioning! And hopefully come off the meds slowly! So hang in there, and have hope girl!
Guest guest
Ha ha ha, thanks for that sound tongue lashing ! I know you are right. I need to get pumping some iron. My hubby is telling me to eat more too, so I did yesterday and I can't believe how quickly the weight goes back on. It is insane, and ticks me off. So okay, I'll get the weights out again and get into a routine. Man, this stuff is a pain in the behind! I wonder if I would be dealing with all this if I hadn't gotten sick from my implants? Guess I'll never know. I mean, I know the weight would eventually be an issue, but I wonder if it is one more now because of the thyroid stuff and autoimmune problems. Hey, I did that interview this morning on 570 KLAC radio in Los Angeles.....I hope somehow I can get a copy of it. I wonder if anyone else on the group heard it? Let me know if you did! I'll be in touch with them at the station to find out if it can be heard over the net. Guest guest
Don't get to hung up on the weight thing or the numbers thing. Trust me most of the time the weight you gain if you eat more than usual is water weight. It takes along time to gain a pound of fat so relax. If you must weigh yourself everyday take my advice, do it at the same time everyday naked, after you pee ha ha ha in the am. It is the most accurate, never weigh yourself at night, I have found I can gain 5 pounds in one day, most of it or all of it is usually water. I would highly recommend that you work out with weights too. I don't know if the implants have anything to do with your struggles but for me, I have dealt with weight my whole life till I got in to the regular work out routine. I am thinner now than I ever was before implants, when I didn't work out, plus as we age it gets harder. You have to just get into the routine of working out and don't think of it as a drag to me it is fun and I look forward to it, if I didn't I doubt I would be successful at it. hugs ----- Original Message ----- From: ~*Patty*~ Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 10:29 AM Subject: Re: Patty Ha ha ha, thanks for that sound tongue lashing !
