Guest guest
yssg888-- Wherever there is a cut, there is going to be a scar, but it won't be like the capasule that surrounds the implants. Exterior scars are permanent so I assume interior ones are also--but who is going to cut one open and find out? It is extremely doubtful that an airpocket will be left--there are methods to avoid that. Bonnie
Guest guest
Another scar will form unless their is retained silicone in which case another capsule may form. . -----Original Message----- From: yssg888 [mailto:yssg888@...] Sent: Saturday, October 12, 2002 3:13 AM Subject: Is after explant internal scar permanent? Can anyone also tell me what happens after the scar capsule around implant is removed? Won't another scar form? Is it permanent? Will the internal tissue join back fully or will there be air pockets? Guest guest
I believe that the tissue does return to being attached, but I also think there would def be a scar esp. if they are submuscular implants because the muscle is cut. I know that mine took a long time to fully heal. I am a big time weight lifter and I can occasionally still feel the achiness around the area on my chest where the muscles were cut. I believe there is some permanent damage though, I have been impressed with my ability to regain strength and muscle growth in that area. I can see the ripples in my pectorals and can see the improvement and overall visual results of lifting heavy weights again. I am strong, but not as strong as before implants. However when I had the implants in me I could always feel them tugging on my chest muscles, and I was pretty weak when it came to weightlifting. Personally I feel that the scar left behind is much less problematic then the capsule and implants, so it is a lesser of two evils. Regarding the space, the space immediately after explant fills with serous fluids that is why most reputable PS's will use drains. Eventually of course the space closes. there would be NO air pockets ( I am pretty sure) the body would fill this back in. As for external scars, they are always permanent, and many factors will come into play as to how they look after a year or so. Usually within 6-12 months you will see them fade to white and if you are lucky and heal well within a year you won't see them hardly at all, that is at least what I have experienced. Guest guest
Thank you all ladies for painting a clearer picture. Thank you, Dr Kolb for the specifics. Gulp! Does this scar plane show up on mammogram, ultrascan or MRI? A friend of mine had old TB scarring on lungs which shows up and alarm the technicians which results in fuss and more followups. Oh no! Are we never gonna be home free without our past catching out on us? Please tell me what a radiologist or technician will see after explant? Guest guest
The scar plane does usually show up on tests after surgery. The capsules can sometimes be seen by the more clever radiologists (I try to give mine feedback and they are getting better). -----Original Message----- From: yssg888 [mailto:yssg888@...] Sent: Saturday, October 12, 2002 6:52 PM Subject: Re: Is after explant internal scar permanent? Guest guest
, Please clarify for me so I understand this right, as I am still a little confused. Once our implants and scar tissue have been removed during explant, are you saying there will still be evidence that we had breast implants in the form of some kind of "scar plane"? I am not exactly sure what a scar plane is. So, in the future when I am old and want to get some kind of mammogram for instance, will there be a chance that some kind of scar will show up on an Xray of the breast area? Will this be questionable to the professionals reviewing the xRays? Thanks, Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: Dr. Kolb Sent: Saturday, October 12, 2002 4:55 PM Subject: RE: Re: Is after explant internal scar permanent? Guest guest
I don't think that it will be visible on mamaogram as long as all the capsule it out, honey it is hard pill to swallow that we ended up with so many things to worry about cause of our choice to get implants, but you will be allot better without them hang in! ----- Original Message ----- From: " yssg888 " <yssg888@...> < > Sent: Saturday, October 12, 2002 4:51 PM Subject: Re: Is after explant internal scar permanent? > Thank you all ladies for painting a clearer picture. > Thank you, Dr Kolb for the specifics. > Gulp! > Does this scar plane show up on mammogram, ultrascan or MRI? > A friend of mine had old TB scarring on lungs which shows up and > alarm the technicians which results in fuss and more followups. > Oh no! > Are we never gonna be home free without our past catching out on > us? > Please tell me what a radiologist or technician will see after > explant? > Boo hoo! > > > > > I often get to see the scar plane as I reoperate for tumor biopsy. > . > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Bos@a... Guest guest
Patty It makes sense to me that just like a scar on the outside, if a muscle is cut, it too would have some sore of scar. I don't think that it would really be visible to anyone unless there was still capsule and I think that was pretty much what said as well. Remember anytime something is cut, inside or out, there would be a scar, from where it was cut, this makes sense to me, but it doesn't freak me out. I realized this early on. I also feel like I said, that the area on my chest muscles gets more sore from my lifting at times. hugs C ----- Original Message ----- From: ~*Patty*~ Sent: Saturday, October 12, 2002 7:51 PM Subject: Re: Re: Is after explant internal scar permanent? , Please clarify for me so I understand this right, as I am still a little confused.
