Hi all.

Sorry I have been out of the loop for a while. Since my explantation in June my health has continued to improve and I have been working really hard to make some awsome changes in my life.

I too had the terrible numbness, weakness and tingling in my limbs. I also walked with a cane and had symptoms that mimicked MS and stroke. I had "episodes" that looked exacly like strokes and would take anywhere from hours to weeks until they would resolve and I would be back to my normal stumbling weakness. This gets progressively worse and will not go away or get any better until the implants are removed. I nearly went on disability but I changed jobs to an office position in which I was sitting at a computer all day and didn't need to move around too much.

Since my explantation in June I have continued to improve. All of the neurological symptoms of numbness, tingling, weakness in the extremeties, vertigo, ataxia, mental confusion, bouts of speach aphaysia and all the others that I do not even want to remember have all faded away. The only thing I still deal with is recurring bouts of fibromyalgia pain that can be very severe at times. The miracle drug for this is called Ultram!! If you have this type of pain and it is not controlable by over-the-counter remedies, ask your Dr. about Ultram. This stuff has been the God Send that has kept me off of disability!!! Can you beleive it? All of this pain and suffering since 1995 (implanted in 1993) from saline breast implants that were sold to me under the guise of being totally biologically inert and inherently safe!!!! What a crock!!

Anyway, I am starting my own business now. Yep! Life is too short so, one day I walked in to my mediocre job in middle management hell and said, "I QUIT!!" I am very happy now and very fulfilled being home with my 2 beautiful daughters (4 and 14, yeah, I know...).

Love from Newport Beach.

Lorri

P.S. Anyone else ever think that we should all get together and have a big "reunion" of sorts? It would be nice to meet some of you wonderful supportive people face-to-face. Just a thought...

Hi Lori,

I love your attitude. It's great. By the way Lorri, we're neighbors. I live in Mission Viejo.

I can't tell you the hope these posts are giving me. I read all the posts but I don't write a lot. I had become very ill, 3 years after I got my silicone implants. I developed a bone marrow disorder but also some very serious neurological stuff which has resulted in many surgeries to add 3 shunts to drain my brain fluid, etc. The problems I'm dealing with now are like almost a paralyzed feeling in my arms and legs. I have had every test done and everything comes out negative. The docs can't find anything wrong. Not one doctor thinks the implants have anything to do with everything that has happened to me. Tells you how naive a lot of them are.

I'm excited in the sense that at least when I get explanted, I may get my normal movements back in my arms and legs.

By the way, who did your explants and were you happy with all of the results?

Thanks about Ultram too. I'll tell my doc to write me a prescription. I have been taking Advil for pain when I'm desperate.

Good for you for starting your own business. I hope all of that is going wonderful for you. I continued working after I had 2 shunts placed in 94, but in 2000, I got worse and had 2 more surgeries and now I'm on disability. Life is not the same but it's still good. I'm not complaining, but I wish I felt better. Maybe once I get them explanted, things will get better.

Write when you can Lorri.

Love from Mission Viejo,

Leanda

Hey I love the reunion idea. That would be fun. I have talked about it a few times with the group in the past, about all of us explantees getting together and having fun. I mentioned Las Vegas, since Patty lives there and it seems to be a good spot. It would be kind of fun to hit the strip in Vegas, Implant capitol of the world and all of us with out implants ya know, all lookin good too ha ha!

Hey lets all think about this again, come on gals lets do it, it would be fun!

Lorri also fill us in on the other details of what you did to get better, I know so many girls would like to know about your quick recovery and if you followed any certain program etc etc.

Your an inspiration.

Also would you be willing to share you story and photos with the group? we always love to hear from happy explant patients, and to see the work that their ps did.

Hugs

That is awesome that ultram worked well for you. I took it for awhile and didn't find the same success when my pain was great, but I eventually found the right meds for what I was going through and they made a difference when the pain made life so difficult.

Ultram is worth a shot, I have heard good and bad about it, as with most meds these days.

good luck

Ultram can be a wonderful drug, and for some people, it works great, for others, it doesn't work at all. But one must remember that even though it is not a controlled substance (like vicodin or percocet) it has the same opioid properties of these drugs, and can be addictive both physically and pyschologically. Many docs feel that because it's not a controlled substance, it's okay to rx large amts with prn refills. Then pts run out, and go through withdrawal. I've seen it happen when I've worked in the ER. That said, it is a very good drug if used properly and according to MD instructions. There is also a combination product out that contains tramadol (Ultram) and Tylenol. It's called Ultracet. Also, there is the new pain med out called maxidone. I've heard it's good, and not too expensive. e ----- Original Message ----- From: Heer Sent: Thursday, October 17, 2002 8:53 AM Subject: Re: Numbness in arms and legs - From Lorri in Newport, Ca. Lorri,

This is just a totally encouraging and wonderful letter of testimony of what we can do when we remove the implants and focus on moving forward!

I am so impressed that you are doing so well and are even starting your own business! Please tell us what you are going to be doing!

I think a reunion of some kind, some where, would be totally fun and a wonderful opportunity for all of us. If anyone else wants to get together somewhere, I am all for it. I think Darly is interested in getting together with a group as well....we should try to plan something!

Patty
