Guest guest
For everyone: I am reading a very interesting book called "The Killers Within: The Deadly Rise of Drug Resistant Bacteria." It is written in lay mans terms and very easy to understand. I thought this was very interesting. According to the authors Shnayerson and Mark J. Plotkin, they state: "Our skin is covered with bacteria--about a trillion of them, which form a layer that protects us from other, less benign microbes. Tens of trillions more reside in our alimentary canal (digestive tract), mouth, nose, eyes, genitalia, and the webbing between our toes. In all, they comprise about one twentieth of our body weight. This means that President Bush is carrying around about 9 pounds of bacteria; actress about 6 pounds, and basketball player Shaquille O'Neal perhaps 12 pounds." That is a lot of bacteria we have on our bodies!! I knew it was a lot, but not that much!!! e
