Duke Med School doctors appointed to IOM

The National Academy of Sciences has appointed Dr. R. , dean of the Duke University School of Medicine, and Dr. Debra A. Schwinn, professor of anesthesiology at Duke, to the Institute of Medicine. Inclusion in the IOM, one of three institutes within the National Academy of Sciences, is considered a high honor by medical professionals. The IOM consists of national scholars and leaders in health and medicine, behavioral and social sciences, administration, law, the physical sciences and engineering. Dr. J. Lefkowitz, a B. Duke professor of medicine at Duke and an IOM member, nominated both and Schwinn.
