Guest guest
Hi : Mercola sounds like an interesting doc to go to. Does he give you any advice on the telogen effluvium hair loss situation? How are you doing--healing up nicely? Take care, LM
Guest guest
e, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield, which covers his all his services, just as any other docs. That is the best plan to see him with, however he lists all the other carriers on his site, that covers services. So you can see yourself if your plan is eligiable, even before making an apt. Also, when you set up a apt, one of the staff calls you and explanes the cost of each test, how much ins will cover , and what you will be responsible for according to your plan. . So, you can opt what to go ahead with according to what you can pay and what is covered. They have a realy great system.
Guest guest
Thanks for asking . well, as you know my throid condition is almost in remission, and that scary nodule I had to get tested for twice at the University of Chicago (for thyroid cancer) was that fun, needle aspiration in the neck! Has shrunk already! But, Im sure as you have read, because I will just go on & on about my health, (just to let you know, I realy don't discuss this with anyone here at home, but my husband & mother, none of my friends or in laws know but one friend) , so you guys and the new women that come & go, are the only ones I can realy talk to about this. The rhuematoid arthritis thing is still bothering me. I am so stiff(HAND & FEET) in the morning & trying to lug my 26 month old all over is getting pretty tiring lately. And we are moving in two months, that should be fun! I think I am stiff now, we live in this realy neat upstairs apt above an antique mall, but it has over 22 steps! Fun. You know, the brain fog has gotten a little better, so has the muscles twitches(they are gone now ) no more headaches, I don't feel so crampy in my legs, so more itchy feelings in my arms & legs, so I shouldn't complain. Even Dr. Kolb told me, it's only been two months, it will take some time, it's all about the mycoplasma infection! So, knowledge is power, and I have read like 12 books in the last two months on yeast, R.A., infections, but no matter how I try and make myself feel, the stiffness is something else. You know, I went off Dr. Kolb's protocal, (it's just like Mercola's), for about a week, and I felt like a wave washed me over. I won't be doing that again. I am realy frustrated about the RA symptoms still, and it's so hard to lose weight no matter how much I work out in the last two years.(everyday for 45 min) I know it's my metabolism still trying to pep up from the thyroid, but damn! So, I am getting better as a whole, but I have to let this stiffness thing stop bothering me. Do you know how long that took for women to get beeter with, was it one of the last symptoms to go? Did you have this? Thanks ,
Guest guest
Rest easy girl, the hand and feet thing is the slowest to go away, and when it finally did I ended up with plantar fascitis (heel spurs) is this implant related ??? I do not know for sure, however I can assure you that you will get much better. 2 months as I have said, is way to early to be cured of this crud, it just takes time, there is not much else I can say about it. However you sound so much better and I do think you will get better and better too. Now as far as the brain fog and twitching and those things, they should go away relatively quick compared to the pain and stiffness. I swear it has taken me almost 2 years to get rid of that stuff to where I am hardly in any pain anymore at all. Maybe I did not do the protocol seriously enough or for long enough, or under any particular dr instruction so maybe that is why things took longer for me, I don't know, but I can guarantee you that you will get better. Time is the issue, trust me, and with all the good Dr's you have that should really be helping you along too. The last symptom to go for me was the hands, then feet. THe other stuff went away quicker, within 6 months I was very much better! Hang in there girl you will get better! ----- Original Message ----- From: JULIEJJPALANCA@... Guest guest
, Thanks for the info. That's nice that his office calls you before and explains benefit coverage, so that there are no suprises. I think I will have Cigna once I'm back in Denver, and they are very good about coverage. I doubt I'll make it out to Chicago because this move is breaking me financially, but who knows, maybe somewhere down the road.......My fear is that because most of the tests he does are not considered the "usual" insurance may hesitate. I don't have any info about the insurance plan I will have, as I don't even know if it will be Cigna or something else. My insr company I'm suing in federal court is Great West Life and Annuity of MO (with corporate headquarters in Denver), and when they got bills for the various lab tests my docs ordered preop they denied everything, even though on my Summary of Benefits and SPD clearly state that ALL labs are covered at 70%. No exceptions listed. You just never know with insr companies...But I plan to expose Great West for the corruptness and unethical business practices they follow. Just you wait and see. Thanks again, e ----- Original Message ----- From: JULIEJJPALANCA@... Guest guest
Thanks , that makes me feel alot better. Some days just knowing that I tested positive for rhuematoid antibodies, and all the pain I have been experiencing gives me this horrible felling that I will be disabled in the future, because I had them for so long(almost 8 years) Almost like it's been too long, the damage is done. But knowledge, and common sense from all of what you girls have told me, from all the books I have been reading, even from my docs telling me I will get better, you would think I would be assured everything will be okay, but then that little negative voice deep inside of me tells me the worst sometimes. You know what I mean? Thanks .
Guest guest
e, that is such bullshit. I can't believe how nuts insurance companies are, esp to women. I bet you mail in a bill for a new test on a man for heart disease detection, and it will be paid 100%. Funny thing is, I have worked for Farmers insurance for over 7 years, (I quote practically all commercial) but the health policies are such crap. You pay all this money for individual policies, and you pay almost everything out of pocket, before you meet this outragous deductable. I am sure you know, you have so much experience with insurance & hospitals. I believe you will uncover it, since I have been on this support group, I have always thought you have got alot of knowledgable power, and in the right circumstances, they had better watch out. Guest guest
, True about the man thing. Ya know, the last 3 insr companies I've had have been PPO's, and they've been shit! Prior to these 3, I've had HMO's and they covered everything, no questions asked, and when they didn't cover, I appealed, and they approved it (and they only thing I ever had to appeal was my explant). I've even been able to go out of network with an HMO and they paid for it fully (with special consideration). These PPO's have high deductibles, cover shit, and God forbid you have to seek medical care, they question every little thing done, and then nickel and dime you for it all. The last 3 PPO's I've had have been BC/BS, Beechstreet, and Great West. People are mislead about HMO's vs PPO's. HMO's have a bad rap, but I've never had a bad HMO, and while you are restricted to a network of docs, there are exceptions where you can seek coverage out of network with permission, they cover everything, there's no calendar yr deductible, and they cover preexisting conditions. PPO's allow you to go anywhere, but the catch is that if you don't use a "network" physician/hospital, the benefits are reduced, sometimes to where they only pay 40%. I'd personally rather have an HMO anyday. It will be a cold day in hell before I agree to have a PPO again! And yes, you're right about this insurance company----they'd better watch out. I have hired an attny in Denver, and we've composed a letter giving them 30 days to pay the rest of their obligations, otherwise, we're filing suit in federal court. In addition, I've opened up an investigation into Great West with the U.S Dept of Labor, which for any insr company, when that is done, is a black mark, and causes future potential employers who are thinking about signing a contract with them to think twice. My obligation as far as my bills go is to pay 30% of $15k, then Great West is supposed to pay 100% after $15k (my bills total over $40k). But, instead, Great West is paying (of the $40k) about $15k, which leaves me much more than half of the bills! Interestingly enough, I wrote the President and CEO of Great West a few wks ago, and this wk, I got EOB's from Great West stating that "after an internal audit, we discovered that your pathology charges are indeed payable at 100%." I've been telling them that since March. They knew it all along, they were just hoping that I would be one of those consumers to roll and over accept their crap. They screwed with the wrong person, and slowly, they are paying more and more bills. However, even if they came back and agreed to pay 100% of all the bills, I would still take them to court for breech of contract, and violation of federal statutory law (I've appealed claim denials twice, and they've not responded or acknowledged they've received them). So, no matter what, I'm exposing them. I hope the Dept of Labor investigation aides my case as well. Anyway, I get burned up about this whole issue, because of what they've done to me financially. I have no problem paying my financial obligation, but not mine AND theirs as well! Sorry, I'm sure my BP has just gone up drastically, now I have to calm back down:) e ----- Original Message ----- From: JULIEJJPALANCA@... Guest guest
I think my blood pressure would hit the roof if I had the same problems with insurance as you have. You are right, HMO's have a bad name, I have never had a hmo plan and considered myself lucky, but after hearing this, I realy lucked out to have the ppo plan I have. We did have to pay out a 1500 deductable (we were at like 1100 already anyway) to have my explant covered, and the lift was 3,000. But I am definlty not complaining, not after what you have been through. It always seems to take that certain someone who is screwed around to a point and who has enough knowledge to expose, and change things. And in this case, I know it's you. Good luck e, I'm sure you'll get them!
