weakness in hands,spread to legs

Hello all , first,I'm asking for help on behalf of my brother who is 42 yrs

old @ has developed chronic weakness in his hands over last 8 weeks , brain @

spinal scan clear,he goes for m.r.i. next week. the weaknesws has now " spread "

to his upper leg muscle (above knees ),hard to stand , to hold a glass akin to

holding a house brick,so worrying when drs. have NO idea. He woke up yesterday

@ 3am with fists clenched,that what they want to do , he has no pain , and

muscles starting to twitch , please , anyone with suggestions to consider?
