Guest guest
For anyone who is interested, I was going through my BI data, and came across my "package" that Dr. Huang had put together for me prior to my surgery. It's a little book about surgery, what to expect, what she recommends, drugs/herbs/supplements to avoid prior to surgery, etc. In addition, I found some data on her CV. I will post, and and/or Patty can choose to archive it or not. For those women out there looking for a highly respected surgeon who charges a very reasonable amt, then please take note. LINDA HAUNG, MD 1578 HUMBOLDT DENVER, CO 80218 (303) 830-7200 Dr. Huang is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University and the Stanford School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery training at town University and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She studied plastic surgery at Duke University. A member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, and the author of several scientific articles, she has a particular interest in preventing unsightly scars for which she was awarded a grant from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. She was a Kleinert Fellow of hand and micro surgery and the University of Louisville. Dr. Huang specializes in reconstructive microsurgical techniques and cosmetic plastic surgery. PRE-OP Dr. Huang wants her pts to start taking multivitamins 2x/day to improve your general health. Dr. Huang wants you to start taking Vitamin C 500mg twice daily to promote healing. No ASA or ibuprofen Limit Vitamin E to less than 400mg/day **The list of drugs/supplements/herbs to avoid 10 days prior to surgery is extensive, as is the list of meds, etc to avoid postop (4 pages long). Herbal meds to avoid before surgery include: bilberry, echinacea ginko biloba, licorice root, St. 's Wart, cayenne, feverfew, ginseng, ma huang, valerian, dong quai, fish oil caps, kava kava, melatonin, yohimbe. POST OP Dr. Huang recommends the combination of 2 homeopathic remedies to optimize healing. These are Arnica Montana and Bromelain. They appear to decrease bruising and help it disappear quicker. Start both pills 7 days prior to surgery and cont as directed by Dr. Huang, usually Arnica Montana: 30? 3 tabs, 3x/day until swelling and bruising subside, usually 7-14 days after surgery. Bromelain: 1 tab 3x/day, between meals, preferably on an empty stomach. Don't eat or drink or brush your teeth 20" before or after taking these, otherwise they will not work. Take a multivitamin, although Dr. Huang does not recommend "megadoses", as there is no proof that these offer any benefit and may in fact be harmful in the surgical period (esp Vitamin E). Stop smoking and don't use any nicotine products for 2 wks before and after surgery. Dr. Huang states no house cleaning, rearraning furniture, or other heavy items at all post op. Use ice packs to decrease swelling, pain, and bruising. No driving for 48 hrs. No heavy lifting, pushing, pulling for at least 2-3 wks. No aerobic activity for 3 wks after surgery. Do not resume strenuous exercise for 4-6 wks. Do not expose scars to sun You may shower 24 hrs after surgery Dr. Huang also goes on in this book to discuss postop depression or "let-down" and discusses this at length. She spends quite a bit of time related to the healing process, and how plastic surgery affects you and those close to you. She provides graphs and charts about depression after plastic surgery, compiling this data based on feedback and info from her pts. It's rather interesting. I think in my haste to get my implants removed, I never read half this stuff. Anyway, thought this might be some good infor on Huang for the site to archive if you want. e
Guest guest
Hi Cherie, So sorry I didn't get back to you sooner (I have not been feeling well and got behind on messages). But... you found the correct information after all. I'm so happy you will explore her as your surgeon. I have done a lot of research and found only good things about her and her work. Keep me posted. They were quick to respond after my photos were sent. ( I think I heard back within 24 hours). I thought I would need a lift plus fat transfer but after Dr Huang looked at the photos, she said I would only need the fat transfer..... very honest. Good luck, > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > > > Has anyone got out of state for surgery to see Dr.Huang? How > > long is > > > > the surgery? Guest guest
, I plan to send my photos by the beginning of the week. I must share with you, I took my photos yesterday and had to go to WalMart and use the kodac machine to print them.....needless to say it was very interesting trying to look at my photes and pick out what to print while people are walking around and even standing behind me waiting for to us the machine. Glad that parts over...... Can you give me an idea of what exactly fat transers are? Thanks! Cherie > > > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > > > > > Has anyone got out of state for surgery to see Dr.Huang? Guest guest
Hi Cherie, That is TOO funny! I took my own photos on my digital camera and sent them via email attachments to Lorraine.... even that seemed a bit strange. I apologized when I sent them saying I would have my husband take some if they were not adequate... She said they were fine so I didn't have to do more... thank goodness. After looking at the photos of my breasts after 20 years of implants, I realized that I hadn't looked at them too much in the mirror lately... not sure what the attraction was to implants anymore....they seemed " sad " to me. Anyway... Fat transfer is the process of taking fat from other parts of your body and transferring it to your breasts. For me it is a wonderful solution as I have some great fat to share from my tummy and hips. It isn't the same as implants... it doesn't give you that full breast mega cup size increase, but it does fill them some which I would like because I think I'll be kind of " flat " after the capsules are removed. I don't care to have large breasts anymore... just some " fluff " would be nice. Dr Huang studied under the guru of fat transfer in NYC. His web site is at http://www.lipostructure.com/ He has some nice photos of breast fat transfer patients. Lorraine gave me his web site when I had questions about fat transfer. Keep in touch... > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > > > > > > > Has anyone got out of state for surgery to see Dr.Huang? > How > > > > long is > > > > > > the surgery? Guest guest
Cherie, Dr. Huang uses lipsuction to harvest fat from somewhere else on your body, then injects it in the breast. Previously, fat transfers were notorious for disappearing. However, I think Dr. Huang is using a newer technique. . . This procedure should not be done by just anyone! Previously, for a fat transfer to "take", they had to remove a fatty piece of tissue, with it's blood supply intact . . . then reconnect to a blood supply in the breast. Microsurgery . . . done by very few specialists. Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Cherie, If you have ANY breast tissue, you should gradually "fluff" for up to a year after explant. Many women are disappointed with how they look immediately after explant. . . They will gradually fill out and look good. A good surgeon can tell you if you need either a lift or fat transfer. Guest guest
Hi e, Thank you so much for that inforamtion. I qm going for a consultation Tuesday so it is good to know what a professional and reliable doctor should be providing. Sounds to me like the explant recovery is smuch like the implant. > > For anyone who is interested, I was going through my BI data, and came across my " package " that Dr. Huang had put together for me prior to my surgery.
