Guest guest
I'm sorry to say that I am so disappointed with this discussion group that I am going to drop out from it. I had hoped it would be a source of useful information and support. Unfortunately, the useful information and support I have found is so buried in hyperbolic warfare over the merits/demerits of conventional/alternative medicine that its value is less than the cost incurred in trying to find it. The warfare seems to be highly weighted against conventional medicine, leading me to believe that the promo for the group should be revised to better reflect this. Do not misinterpret that comment, please. It does not imply that I am taking the side of conventional medicine in this warfare. I hoped to see informative posts of both sorts! I do applaud Dr. Moran for his efforts to defend mainstream medicine and urge a cautionary but hopeful approach to alternatives. I hope someone on the " opposing " side will rise to the occasion with a similar mix of defense for alternatives and cautionary but hopeful approach to conventional medicine. I will remain on the list only a short time to see if my post is taken as respectfully as it is offered. I sincerely hope it is not turned into another opportunity to further either side of this bitter and discouraging warfare. Finally, I wish to briefly indicate why I had hoped, in the first place, to find useful information and support in this group. I am a cancer patient with osteosarcoma. I am in my third year of treatment, having had major surgery and extensive chemotherapy. I now set off metal detectors in airports from fifty feet away. I have gone from hospital bed to wheelchair to walker. I have been going to a cancer support group for two years and have made friends with many others who have deep faith in non-conventional treatments as either alternative or complementary to conventional medicine. I have seen some great and heroic struggles, some successful, others not. Among those whom I have lost are my mother-in-law and three of my brothers. I am off to Seattle, University of Washington Medical Center's Regional Sarcoma Center, tomorrow morning to review my condition and discuss my latest set of CT-scans and blood work. I go with an open mind and hopeful heart. I wish you all the same! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
