Partially digested food creates God-awful toxins and both get in the blood stream. Just a note lest the impression get created that all fresh, raw foods are always the best and don't require enzyme supplementation if ingested in preference to cooked foods. The fact that the enzymes are intact in raw foods may not be enough to ensure their optimal digestion. And as you state, like everything else, they, like other foods, are only best if they can be digested completely. What most people overlook is that whenever the liver function is disrupted, the body's enzyme levels can be insufficient to break down raw foods completely and they will actually require the assistance of light steaming along with supplementation while therapies are being undergone to decongest the liver. Chang at http://www.sensiblehealth.com makes this very clear in her consultations. She recommends avoidance of raw foods and citrus in certain cases where the liver is congested to the point of affecting the spleen and the thyroid function, until they have responded to the decongestion therapies.
