Guest guest
My husband was very fatigued a few years ago and was diagnosed with " walking pneumonia " which is a mycoplasma. It is contagious. He wasn't coughing, and said he'd had it at a kid also. They gave him 10 days of antibiotics and he was better. About a year later he was sick and fatigued all the time again, and he didn't have the form of mycoplasma that causes walking pneumonia, so he had the PCR screening tests for the harder to kill mycoplasmas and was negative. We were afraid maybe he'd never really gotten rid of it. But that time he quit his stressful job and his health returned to normal. Cindi " Theresa Romani " <tromani@...> 12/26/00 07:12 PM Please respond to " CFS FM Experimental " <egroups> cc: Subject: Walking Pneumonia Hi All, My husband has had a terrible cough etc for weeks and finally went to the doctor today. He was diagnosed with " walking pneumonia " . Can anyone tell me what organism is responsible for this? Is it contagious? I seem to have a small problem with a " tickle in the throat " kind of cough myself, but nowhere near what he is having. I may have something totally different, but I'd like to know what to do. -Theresa This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. Guest guest
Theresa, I also had this for two months in 1991 and date my CFS to this illness. I think it is viral in nature, and my doctor told me after the first 10 days or so it is not contagious. He didn't give me much of anything for treatment, other than an inhaler, and just let it run it's course. It took months for my cough to go away. I hope your husband can rest. I would also suggest trying homeopathy or naturopathy for alternate treatments - high doses of Vitamin C helped me alot later on when I got sick like this again. Good luck - Jennie --- Theresa Romani <tromani@...> wrote: > Hi All, > > My husband has had a terrible cough etc for > weeks and finally went to > the doctor today. Guest guest
He tells me that when the doctor gives him a round of antibiotics and a strong expectorant (usually with codiene, since all the coughing hurts), it goes away. I have heard from many people that drinking LOTS of fenugreek tea has cleared up even the most stubborn cases of pneumonia. It is great for all respiratory problems. Guest guest
Garlic cloves, mullein, lobelia... all are good for respitory. including super tonic - 4-5 times a day (like every 3 hours.)Sara Thustra <sara.thustra@...> wrote: Hi there--! The tricky parts are a) it can't be too harsh on the stomach and must be alcohol-free.Thanks as always!-ST

You can get them in tincture (glycerin) or get " normal " tincture and let them sit out until the alcohol evaporates. I've never seen an osha tincture that wasn't alcohol, as it's a rather tough root. Osha is wonderful for anything mucus membrane related - sinus infections, bronchitis, etc. It is notgoing to do much about deep seated pneumonia in the lower lung, but walking pneumonia is usually upper respiratory related and osha is specific for that. Take the combination for 10 days, 4 times a day and it will work like a charm. You should never take echinacea while taking antibiotics, however - they are opposite effects! Osha and echinacea can be physically combined, the mullien must be separate but can be taken at the same time. Herbal stores, Vitamin Cottage, Wild Oats, etc, have them or you can get them on line. Gel caps, tincture, whatever you can find, doesn't really matter. Gel caps are powdered herb usually and don't retain their efficacy long, but if he orders and takes them, he should be fine. Guest guest
I do appreciate this, and when that shining day in the future comes that I can afford to feed my family without relying on charity, and when just an appointment to see a doctor isn't bankrupting me, I would be happy to buy all sorts of specialized foods for him (and me, and my baby) to eat. Until then, though, there's simply NO WAY. Thanks though. -ST doihavtasay wrote: > This poor man… I will say one more time- try the SCD!! > > > > Pneumonia and asthma are by products of severe reflux. Guest guest
Doing it anyway, but yeah, way inconvenient, very difficult. -ST You sound like you're really putting up lots of resistance to this, Sara. Buying fresh veggies will cost less in the long run, as things like meat and pre-packaged are very expensive. If you have a pot, you can just make up some vegetable soup for starters. You don't have to have all sorts of fancy equipment and recipes. It is not really that diffifcult to do. Plus we can help you if you need pointers. Guest guest
No, we all subsist on sunshine and dust bunnies. *eg* But of course, it's all *different* food, which does mean extra shopping, learning a bunch of new recipes, etc....and this is just a really inconvenient time for all that. Guest guest
It all depends on your attitude, Sara. You can make it as difficult as you want, or you can make it a wonderful adventure. Shopping for real food is much easier -- and if you eat a lot of foods raw, it takes even less time to prepare. You'll also find that raw/less cooked foods will fill you up more with less food because you'll be retaining the nutrients from them. Check out this site....it's a family that is 100% raw. Trust your gut. Even if it's nothing you gain the piece of mind. has had a lot of sinus and ear infections over the years and 8 years ago she had a CAT scan which found severe chronic infections in 2 sets of sinuses even though she was essentially symptom free. Recently (after another round of infections) we had another scan. It came back negative. I sure don't feel it was a wasn't of time and effort just to know she DOESN'T have a chronic sinus infection. - Becky Mom to 15 dyslexia, 12 DS & speech apraxia, 11 ADD & CAPD

Not walking pneumonia, but regular pneumonia a few times. Sometimes it's not obvious. If you think something is wrong, listen to your instinct. Take her to the doctor. Sometimes strep hangs around longer than you'd think. One of my nieces had it over and over again. After that she became a carrier and spread it to her brother and sister.
