The truth is that this kind of manipulation of virus and other organisms is

going on as we speak. The government considers it a " race " against the other

labs in foreign countries. That's why The Stand was so scary, it could

really happen.

A book I just read along the same lines of " this could really

happen " is Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. Really good book and

shows what can happen with genetic engineering and pharmaceuticals

taken to an extreme (actually not too far fetched from what may be

taking place right now).
