The reason we get heartburn is because there is not enough acid to digest the food. This happens for many reasons one of the major being drinking fluids right before, during or right after meals, thus diluting the acid in our stomach. -- Peace, love and light, Don " Quai " Eitner " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
I can tell you that with it IS too much acid and we have the ph probe tests to prove it. ;-) Not to mention an esophagus that was eaten away. Doubt too little acid could cause that. Carol in IL Mom to seven kids, twin grandson's and , 4 DS " Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain. Guest guest
I don't know! That's why I was asking about this guy's theory. His theory is that not enough acid causes it to evaporate and cause pain and damage and that taking a little vinegar solves the problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: doihavtasay health Sent: Friday, December 31, 2004 12:01 PM Subject: RE: Control that Heartburn! Selling Causes what to evaporate? And why would that cause an abnormally high reading on a ph probe? And why would something that also lowers the acid ( Zantac) till allow for a high ph reading, but the Prilosec lowered it and also caused the esophagus to heal? I am not arguing, just trying to understand and put into place what you are saying with our experience. I am deffo open to other thoughts on this whole issue, though admittedly very reluctant to stop what has worked since the consequences have been so serious. We also suspect that she refluxes due to low muscle tone. But her ph is now in normal range so don’t understand exactly why normal acid levels don’t seem to cause damage if the reflux is happening due to structural causes. Guest guest
I can vouch for the fact that vinegar can heal heartburn. I can't swear it works for everyone - but it worked for me, for my son, and for a good friend of mine. Taking vinegar on an empty stomach, just prior to eating. Worked wonders. Then clearing up my diet helped the problem even more - food combinations seem the biggest problem. No processed foods, no sugar, if you eat meat, only with green veggies (no potatoes or other high starch veggies with meat). Starchy veggies can be eaten with green veggies. Fruit only alone - never in combination with other foods. If you eat light fruit - like citrus, alone, it clears your stomach in 15 minutes. starchy fruits like banana can take up to an hour. If you eat fruit with other foods, have wrong combination of digestive enzymes released, and can't digest, so much of it putrifies in your gut. It takes 4 hours for the typical veggie and starch meal to clear your system, so don't eat fruit till 4 hours after such a meal. It takes up to 6 hours for a meat and veggie meal to clear your system, so don't eat fruit till 6 hours after such a meal. If you eat fruit first, like for breakfast, that works well. Then nothing else for an hour (if starchy fruit included). Or prior to another meal, 15 minutes if its light fruit, an hour if its a starchier fruit. Joy Candace Podratz wrote: > I don't know!
