Guest guest
Hello all, Someone mentioned juicing to help with gb problems, etc. What sort of things do you juice? I do the carrot, celery and parsley one and the apple one. I am just basically trying the get some more ideas - for variety - from people informed on juicing to help our old friend the gb! In the past I have found it expensive getting all the fruit, veg and stuff in from the shops - it's sometimes cost more than organic but, of course, you don't get such variety unless you do it yourself. It is hot here and so can't think for myself, brain has gone to mush!!

Hi, : Here's a recipe that I like from Dr. Cabot's Healthy Liver & Bowel Book. It's called " Liver purifier. " (I used more of everything and instead of a red apple, I used granny smith) 2 large spinach leaves 3 broccoli flowerets 1-2 garlic cloves 1 green pepper 1 cup parsley tops, chopped 1 red apple, seeded Susie

Guest guest
Hi . My favorite one is: Using a " Champion " juicer which is NOT a centrifugal but a masticating juicer, I juice some carrots and green apples and sugar loaf cabbage. I don't know what it is in cabbage but it really seems to soothe my insides quite considerably. I remember when I was REALLY sick and did not have a clue what was wrong with me, this was the juice that saved me. To this I always add 4 teaspoons of Vitamin C powder with bioflavonoids in it. The carrot, apple and cabbage is about a litre worth, and the other litre I top up with store bought grapefruit juice. The masticating juicers allow you to safely store the juice in a bottle in the fridge without the juice's vitamins deteriorating. This combo really does wonders especially on an empty stomach. I always feel so much more cleaned out after a day or two on this juice. ----- Original Message ----- From: SEMMARIA@... gallstones Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 9:18 PM Subject: Re: juicing Hello all, Someone mentioned juicing to help with gb problems, etc. What sort of things do you juice? Guest guest
This sounds healthy, but as brocolli, green pepper, parsley and spinach are relatively expensive and not very juicy, I personally would make this concoction into a delicious soup. It would still be yummy with all the nutrition in it. I flavour my soups with herbs and spices, including some whole sea salt. I have used a powdered fat free, all natural, vegan stock powder made by 'Massel' which turns out a good soup, but I've recently noticed that sugar is one of it's ingredients. Something which I know causes gallstones. So I've gone back to using good spice mixes. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tishri7@... gallstones Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 11:01 PM Subject: Re: juicing > Someone mentioned juicing to help with gb problems, etc. What sort of > things > do you juice? Guest guest
My question has always been, why? Juicing removes the fiber that I want. Even 2 pounds of carrots is not too much fiber. I do often use a blender mostly to combine frozen stuff into a smoothie. So if the "juicer" thing were designed to easily turn the veggie/fruit into a smoothie (lettuce is not that easy), then I would use that maybe. It would have to sorta micronize the fiber. Some veggies like okra will make a green "slime" even mixed with a fruit juice so I think we haven't got the perfect "metabolizer" out there yet. I'd love to see Jack LaLanne do okra in his juicer. Then there's the question of what does micronized fiber do to my body? Now wheat grass "juice" or some other grass (bahia), if I could get it and process it myself might be worth trying for something I was lacking, maybe. But what would that something be? Ideally we need to turn the grass into a dried powder that we reconstitute with water or juice and drink and that's all we need to eat. Then we could maybe eat 8 pounds of romaine. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jon Sent: Sunday, December 07, 2003 9:59 PM Subject: [ ] Juicing Hello,I have not looked at all 9500+ messages on the group list. Forgive me.And as I perused the files I didn't see anything on this subject (doesn't mean it isn't there). Althouhg I think I saw something on wheat grass. But I wondered, who here, juices?I do 3- 4 times a week, and I noticed when I juice regularly I consume a lot more vegeatbles and fruit. My favorite is probably Carrot/Orange or Carrot Apple (with real apples, I got a carrot apple at Jamba Juice once and they put frozen apple juice in it).A strategy I use when I get home from work is to have 8-12 oz. of carrot/celery juice when I get home from work, it boosts my energy and curbs my appetite. So, just thought I'd ask.Jon

Guest guest
Well, I'm not so I don't know. So let me wing it here. Now remember I was ONLY drinking juice so I made enough for the whole day: 3 entire heads of romaine (and they were big! I was buying produce by the case) 10 - 12 roma tomatoes (they were firmer and easier to juice) 4 -5 stalks of celery (depended on my salt craving that day) 1 whole bunch of cilantro 1/2 - 1 jalapeno (depended on heat) 3 - 4 cloves (again, depended on potency) Hope that helps. I was always trying to make at least 2 quarts of juice. Guest guest
I use a GreenLife twin gear juicer that incorporates no air into the juice as the Champion or Juiceman juicers do, so yes, it was good the whole day. In fact these juicers claim to have good juice three days after making, but I never keep mine that long. Shari
Guest guest
I had heard that once you make the juice it begins to lose vitamins. I don't remember where I heard this, it might have been in a juicing book. Sometimes I make juice for 3 servings, put ice in my individual containers and put it in the coldest part of the frg. I do this at work. Question on the recipe belo: Is there a particular reason you chose this combination? Thanks. mary Well, I'm not so I don't know. So let me wing it here. Guest guest
Oh yes, I drank about 2 quarts a day. Then all of a sudden about 10 days before the end of the fast, all I wanted was orange juice. Go figure - my favorite oranges were out of season! And when I broke the fast I still had a couple heads of lettuce left that were great with just a touch of olive oil.
