One of the major questions we must ask here is what is causing the insomnia. Menopause? Stress? Depression? Indigestion? Excessive worrying? There are many aids for insomnia, probably most you already know about. Some herbs to try other than the ones you have listed would be in order of strength: Mild Hypnotics: Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), Lemon Balm ( officinalis), Catnip (Nepeta cataria), Linden (Tilia platyphyllos), Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) Moderate Hypnotics: Motherwort (Leonuruis cardiaca), Pasqueflower (Pulsatilla vulgaris), Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora), Vervain (Verbena officinalis) Strong Hypnotics: California Poppy (Eschscholizia californica), Hops (Humulus lupulus), Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa), Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), Kava Kava (Piper methysticum), Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) Try 1 part each passionflower, valerian and motherwort if experience insomnia due to menopause. Try 1 part each passionflower, valerian, mugwort and lemon balm if your insomnia is due to indigestion. Try 1 part each passionflower, valerian, wood betony, linden and cramp bark if your insomnia is due to hypertension and headache. Try 1 part each passionflower, valerian, St. 's Wort and mugwort if your insomnia is due to depression. Make a sleep pillow using 2 to 3 handfuls of peppermint, sage and lemon balm all mixed up with 1 to 2 handfulls of lavender, dill, lemon thyme, tarragon, woodruff, red bergamot and rosemary and add in 1 to 2 tablespoons of valerian. Here is an essential oil bath mix or massage mix you can use: 3 drops each of lavender and neroli oil 2 drops each of clary sage, marjoram and ylang ylang 1 drop of German chamomile or for a diffuser: 25 drops lavender oil 10 drops sweet orange oil 8 drops each of chamomile and marjoram 6 drops ylang ylang I don't know but maybe some of these will help. I am not sure you will find a concise listing of all herbs that act on insomnia as there are so many and each and every herb has more than one action. Hope this helps you Jean. Guest guest
Juice is better - GSE is NASTY tasting. LOL!!!!! It's hardly noticable in juice. I assume in water but this might not be the case. I'm getting ready to go over in a little bit and Becky Boldy Going Nowhere.....
Guest guest
I mix ’s GSE in her food. Typically her pureed squash. Then add coconut oil and some honey ;-) Works for her. You don’t really taste it in there. In fluids, it doesn’t really mix or disperse well so as you drink you keep getting ‘blobs’ of it and that stuff is very bitter! Don’t add it to your yogurt or any fermented foods as it will kill off the pro-biotics in them. I assume in water but this might not be the case. I'm getting ready to go over in a little bit and realized I had no idea how to use this. Guest guest
Hey guys, I am back again from Christmas flurry. WOW! Even though we stayed home, we had family over here, and man we had a wonderful time! I am just now recovering, but still have some straightening out to do around here. I am trying to catch up with the posts, and wanted to say, I was the one who takes GSE in citrus juice. It nearly totally covers the taste, When you mix well, especially juices that have pineapple or grapefruit in it. I stir it as I put the drops in, and in between drinks of it, so it doesn't settle on the bottom. I like banana orange pineapple blends the best myself. I grow my own pineapples, and get organic bananas and oranges from the store. Yum! And it makes taking GSE a cinch, even my 4 year old son will take it, and doesn't know when I put the stuff in there. Kim Get more from the Web.
