We have a site for those with autoimmune thyroid disease using LDN. It

I have Graves Disease, and have been on LDN for about 3 months now. I

was hypo due to RAI. I will be getting labs done ASAP, however, I am

fairly certain that LDN has caused an increase in thyroid production,

and that I am flipping back to the hyper side.

There is a warning for LDN that those with thyroid issues may find a

prompt increase in thyroid function after starting LDN, so it is

important to check labs often. Unfortunately for me, I do not have a

local doctor working with me, and no health insurance, so I must pay

out of pocket for all testing. I order my LDN from a pharmacy in

Canada, without a RX. It has made all the difference in the world for

me. It is said to reduce antibodies, but I do not have labs to support

that, as I can not get antibody testing here. All I know for sure is

that I feel better than I have in 20 years, and it is ALL due to LDN>

Hi Jewel,

I have Hashimotos thyroiditis. I take Armour thyroid and cytomel. My

doctor told me about LDN. I started on 1.5 mg a couple of weeks ago

and had a thyroid function test on Friday. My doctor did say I may

have to decrease my thyroid medication as I increase the LDN. She has

me scheduled to increase the LDN every 2 weeks by 1.5 mg. After being

on each new dose for 2 weeks, I get another thyroid function test.

Even on such a low dose, I felt better pretty quickly.

Hi ,

Just to make sure I understood you correctly...

.... your doctor is having you take thyroid labs every 2wks to coincide

with the increasing of your LDN dose.

Also, which thyroid tests are you having done ???

And do you know how many thyroid patients your doctor has using LDN

therapy ???

My doctor wrote 3 scripts for blood tests as I increase LDN. I'm

supposed to go up to 3 mg. on Tues.,but will wait for blood test

results. I may have to decrease my thyroid meds as I increase the

LDN. The blood tests do coincide with the LDN increase.

The thyroid function test includes a TSH, Total T4, Free T4, and T3.

The reason she gave me a script for the blood tests is because it's a

45 minute drive to her office. I ended up going to her for the blood

tests anyway because it was less expensive.

I think I'm the guinea pig for LDN and Hashi's. My doctor has other

people on LDN for other things, but I'm her only patient on it with

Hashi's. She is the one who approached me about LDN. I had never

heard of it before, but I'm sure glad I changed doctors and decided to

go to her.

Hi all,

This is amazing.

Did anyone else had their own doctor recommend LDN for a thyroid

problem. Most doctors/endocrinolist's I have spoken to have no clue

about this LDN protocol. They do after I get finished with them.

The bottom line is that results will speak for themselves. I need to

get those antibodies to zero.

I'm very lucky as far as my doctor goes. She is an M.D. that

practices alternative medicine. I live in a rural area and she is

even further in the mountains, so I feel truly lucky to have someone

within a 45 minute drive. I had heard about her for years, but she

was never been on my insurance plan, but now she is.

Hi ,

Is there a reason why your doctor isn't testing for " Free T3 " ??

That's the active form of thyroid hormone...and I would think one of

the more important levels to monitor -- especially with the LDN. --??--

When I test my thyroid levels I test: TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and TPO

(antibodies). These indicators are what I'm using to measure my

progress with LDN and are the ones I used to establish a benchmark

before starting LDN.

I decided to try LDN (a second time) without being on THR (thyroid

meds) so my LDN experiment is coming from being in a hypo status vs

euthyroid. And since I went hypo - as a result of stopping THR - all

my thyroid levels went up and also my cholesterol. I'm also

retesting my cholesterol level with the VAP test - it's a more

comprehensive cholesterol test and gives you a lot more information

that the old one that doctors have been using forever.

Also, there is one test I wish I had thought to benchmark ahead of

starting LDN and that is the adrenals. Because of the symbiotic

relationship between the adrenals and the thyroid I think it would be

beneficial to have the adrenals measurement as a " before " and " after " .

I recently did an adrenal test and I was VERY low...however, since I

didn't benchmark ahead of starting LDN...I don't know if I already had

this condition BEFORE starting LDN.

Jann,

I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and find out which specific tests

she ran. I should also have the test results in a day or two. Even

though I've been on 1.5 mgs of LDN today, she doesn't want me to

increase until receiving the blood test results.

I'm sure my adrenals are shot. I've been in school for 7 years (and

I'm no spring chicken!) I decided later in life that I wanted to be a

teacher. I got my undergrad in '06, starting teaching and just

finished my Master's. The stress has been incredible and mostly

self-induced, but I was a more conscientious student this time around.

My chiropractor recommended concentrated liquid licorice for

adrenals. She orders it from New Zealand, but haven't received it yet.

Would like to hear how you do with LDN and Hashi's. Did you just start

taking LDN?

My experience has been that it has not affected my Hashimoto's antibodies at all. I still use levothyroxine in approximately the same dose as I have been using for over 10 years.My antibody count was slightly reduced last year and my thyroid nodules has shrunk. At first I thought these two occurrences may have been due to LDN, but I learned that with long term use of levothyroxine reduced antibody count and nodule shrinkage is common.So there is no way I can accurately say LDN has helped my Hashimoto's Disease.JackieFrom: TLBee <tanialbee2002@...>Subject:
