Guest guest
Hello All, The below is an update from Vicki Finlayson on her recent courageous 53 mile walk to California's State Capital in Sacramento in order to boost awareness of LDN and the meeting she had with the Governor's top 2 advisors. For more information about Vicki, please feel free to visit Sammy Jo's Website (http://www.ldners.org/). Thanks again to Vicki for fighting the LDN battle for many patients (with many different diseases) that will be helped by her efforts! Vicki challenges all of us below to also get involved by writing to our elected officials, sending our LDN stories, and asking for Clinical Trials Funding. Three Cheers for Vicki! ~~ Joyce ".....Thank you for all your help and posts. The walk went very well, despite the 95-100 degree temps. This week we are looking at rain and temps between 62-70 quite a difference, somebody surely was testing LDN and me! The heat didn't bother me a bit which for me was a biggie, before I started LDN if I went outside for 10 minutes I would have to go inside and lie down, the heat intensified my pain. My legs were strong and I was even more surprised when evening rolled around and they still felt fine. I will challenge any doctor any day when he makes a dumb statement that LDN doesn't work or is placebo, there is no way I could have done this if LDN were placebo!!!!! Unfortunately Governor Schwarzenegger wasn't able to meet me, he is working on our budget, but I did meet with 2 of his top advisors. Both men were very receptive asked questions and were surprised at the information I was able to share with them. They were somewhat surprised that our doctors weren't better educated on "new" treatments and therapies that held great potential. They were also surprised that with LDN's potential and benefit that it wasn't made more available. I told them I spoke with one of our top Gastroenterologists and his comment to me was they didn't have time to do much reading and that they drugs they prescribed were FDA approved drugs that the drug reps who sat across from them told them about. I told them both it was a shame that the dollar was more important than our lives that was criminal. I told them the Governor is always telling us "California needs to lead the way" well here is a perfect opportunity and if we pass this up "we" aren't doing our job and are loosing credibility as a so called "great state". They said they will research what avenues California has as far as funding, I told them it shouldn't stop with just California, Governor Schwarzenegger is in the position both in the entertainment and sports industry to rally some interest. The money needed to come from the private sector as well as the public. And since the entertainment industry is always funding one thing or another this was a cause well worth funding. The benefits of helping millions not only in the US but around the world should no longer be ignored. I put together a nice brochure for them with the published research, the trials and all the different diseases LDN has helped. We talked about the cancer, HIV/AIDS, Parkinson's and of course MS that LDN has helped. So the need for funding was extremely important. If more people knew about LDN and the possibilities it holds and knew that it was a money issue that the drug companies were more interested in they would be furious. was right our Government doesn't fear us, maybe we should scare them a bit:) I was told to follow up in a couple of weeks and we could discuss what they found out. I asked them both to please discuss this with the Governor, so many people say they will only to find out that nothing was mentioned, this is not right, you tell the mothers who 's child has cancer go home there is nothing more we can do go home and watch them die, or we are sorry you are in a wheelchair but the American people care more about the dollar and that the disabled don't have a role in our society. It makes no sense why we are so ignorant. Fox 40 came out and did a short interview, and we have been receiving phone calls and emails but still more people need to know about LDN. I have made copies of Dr. Zagon and Dr. s interview and have sent the newspaper articles about the walk to about 28 different TV stations. I also have contacted Congressman Lungrens office again, two of his advisors who I have had lunch with before, met me when I arrived at the Capitol. I have asked for another meeting with the Congressman, he will be back in California soon and Marilyn will let me know. I also am contacting more of our State Representatives here in California with the interview and article in hopes they also will join this cause. We need to contact our officials, they work for US, tell them to find the necessary funding for this research. We need to make some NOISE allot of it!!!!!! Sam has all the pictures she is going to put them together and, I believe put them along with the radio and TV interview on YouTube. When this is completed I'm sure it will be on her site and the other boards for everyone to see. I appreciate what everyone has done and all the kind words and support I received while I did this "crazy walk". I did it because I knew with all the thousands of us on LDN we can make a difference and somebody will listen:) Thank you again for everything, while walking I was thinking of all the wonderful people I have meet in these 2 1/2 years and I must say you all are a terrific bunch!!!!! Take care Vicki....."
