Thank you Dr. McCandless .... I have passed on this information to the woman who was concerned.

In regard to the post saying LDN is hard on the liver;I do not agree. In many thousands of children withautism taking it up to 3 years now I have never hadany evidence of elevation of liver enzymes. In manyhundreds of studies on naltrexone in research onaddiction, regular dosing of naltrexone (50-150mg)never caused liver problems. One and only one studydone with markedly obese patients who were given bigdoses (300mg) of naltrexone showed some elevation ofliver enzymes, which went back to baseline when thestudy was completed. Since we are giving about1/100th of these doses, I highly doubt that no matterhow long you take LDN will there be any livertoxicity. As far as I know there are someone in here using LDN for fibro, and they are doing well. LDN is also helping hepatitis, there is an own site for hepatitis here at , the site is run by Joyce, you will get a lot of info if you choose to contact her group.

Methadone is a synthetic opiate, Naltrexone in full dose (50 mg) will block Methadone, so it won't reach the receptor, this means that Methadone taken with HDN (high dose naltrexone) won't work towards pain relief.

I am not sure how LDN (low dose naltrexone) - only 4.5 mg a day will work towards Methadone, but I suppose the advice will be the same as we give to those who uses narcotic pills to get pain relief, don't use them and LDN at the same time.

Anyone?

Re: [low dose naltrexone] To Dr. McCandless

I have just heard about this treatment. My wife suffers with Fibro, and her son is in constant pain from Hep C. He has taken methadon for seven years for the pain. Whoul this treatment help and be safer?

Thanks for any help

Well the main thing about methadone and LDN is that

as methadone will block long term the immune receptors

which LDN needs to blockade short term, LDN won't be

able

to work it's wonders.

-You know, I had thoughts on this. If LDN only blocks opioid receptors

for a short time, wouldn't it stand to reason that pain meds would get

through and work, just not during that brief time the block is in effect?

Just a thought.
